Tech Field Day events bring together innovative IT product vendors and independent thought leaders to share information and opinions in a presentation and discussion format. Independent bloggers, freelance writers, and podcasters have a public presence that has immense influence on the ways that products and companies are perceived and by the general public. The world of media has changed, with social media and blogging gaining special importance.

But first to all, in my opinion, is a community event for the community: each session is live and available on YouTube and Vimeo some hours after, completely for free and to everybody (and you cannot miss them as also explained on this post: why you need to be watching Tech Field Day).

But the delegates itself are people from the community and you can become a Field Day delegate (if you match the requirements). Do you think that a delegate lists was weak or that other people can do better (or just deserve it): just apply to the nomination form or submit a name of somebody that can contribute.

VFD-LogoAnd sometimes also from the vendor sponsors there are people from the community, like for example, in the previous Virtualization Field Day 3 (#VFD3), from Coho Data there was Forbes Guthrie or from Pure Storage there was Vaughn Stewart.

And one of the evening dinner of the past was #VFD3 was also a community event with several people from vendors, bloggers, consultant, … Really a lot of great people in a single room:

But what I’ve really appreciate (and was really impressed about them) were the community sessions: the last one on Friday, Mar 7 was with Networking Nerd on how Networking Is Fun Again! Really interesting on how networking could become more interesting and important in the next months / years.

And the two community sessions on Thursday, Mar 6 where all about the communities (VMUG, vExpert, vBrownbag, …) itself and are a must to see:

Community and the IT Imaginarium with Eric Wright

The Value of Community with Alastair Cooke

We can say #vBrownbag “über alles”, considering that this has inspired both presentation:

The #vBrownbag is precisely the community goodness that inspired my #VFD3 presentation: http://t.co/Cr0LdTEkqp Thank you all!
