Cohesity announced the public launch of the Cohesity Data Platform, a product designed to consolidate all secondary storage use cases on a unified environment that helps organizations control growing data demands.

The Cohesity Data Platform combines a web-scale storage architecture with standards-based hardware components that enable companies to transition from today’s expensive silos for different data use cases to a simple, pay-as-you grow solution for data management. By consolidating a wide range of functions onto a single platform, Cohesity can reduce storage costs by more than half and make enterprise data management incredibly simple.

Cohesity OASIS (Open Architecture for Scalable, Intelligent Storage), is the flagship operating environment that provides the foundation for complete data consolidation.

Cohesity provides a starting point for infinite scale with either the C2300 or the C2500. The former providing 48 TB of raw hard disk capacity and 3.2 TB of flash storage in a dense 2 Rack Unit container. While the latter packs 96 TB of raw hard disk capacity and 6.4 TB of flash storage in the same 2 Rack Units.

Each appliance is called a Block, which can support up to four Cohesity Nodes.

These Nodes can be joined together to form a cluster. Clusters can expand from a minimum of 3 Nodes to as many Nodes as necessary regardless of the series.

So a similar architecture of EVO:Rail or most of Hyper-converged storage, but in this case for the secondary storage.

Each C2300 or C2500 node contains two 8-core Intel v3 processors and 64GB of RAM, in addition to 12 TB or 24 TB (C2300 or C2500) of raw hard disk capacity (three 4 TB or 8 TB SAS drives) and 800 GB or 1.6 TB PCIe SSD C2300 or C2500). Each Node also has its own discrete set of networking hardware, which is comprised of two 10Gb SFP+ interfaces, two 1Gb Ethernet interfaces, and an out-of-band management interface for remote configuration.
