Zerto è un’azienda abbastanza nota focalizzata sulle soluzioni business continuity e disaster recovery (BCDR) di tipo enterprise-class, sia per infrastrutture virtualizzate che per ambienti cloud. Zerto Virtual Replication è un prodotto per la replica hypervisor-based in ambienti VMware con più di 700 clienti e 150 cloud service provider.

Now, in occasione del TechEd europeo, hanno annunciato Zerto Virtual Replication for Microsoft Hyper-V.

hyperv logo.jpgTra le funzionalità più salienti di Zerto Virtual Replication for Hyper-V vi sono:

  • Storage agnostic replication – any storage can be used at the source and target site
  • Hypervisor agnostic replication – Hyper-V to Hyper-V, vSphere to Hyper-V and  Hyper-V to vSphere
  • No snapshots – Zerto Virtual Replication uses continuous data protection to minimize impact on the production environment
  • Automated orchestration of disaster recovery processes for application consistency
  • Simple management interface for KPIs and reporting

Di queste, quella che cattura la mia attenzione è la funzionalità hypervisor agnostic: al momento non vi sono molti prodotti per spostare workload da infrastrutture VMware vSphere a Microsoft Hyper-V e viceversa (ci sono numerosi converter e qualche soluzione di nicchia).

Di certo il mondo è diventato multi-hypervisor (in primis vSphere ed Hyper-V, ma non possiamo diventicare KVM e Xen) e l’ecosistema della virtualizzazione lo conferma.

Alcune aziende hanno anche almeno due hypervisor (soprattutto per questioni economiche, ma non solo…) e con questo strumento potrebbero facilmente replicare da un ambiente ad un altro.
