See the complete interview on: How To Use Certifications To Become a Virtualization Expert – with Andrea Mauro In this interview you will find: What steps you must do to become VMware Certified Design Expert? Why you should not concentrate only on a virtualization technology, but also on other technologies like networking, storage and even SQL? Do you need to work with the biggest systems in the world to become a VCDX? What other certifications are good for vEngineers? One common question is “which certification should I get?” or “which is the best one?”… As usual it depends and is not a simple “objective” choice because it also depends on your needs and on what is required (in the IT field), that could also depends year by year. For the first question IMHO I really suggest to check your skills, think on what you would like to do and related to jobs offers. Which is the right certification could not be defined with a simple objective criteria. One criteria could simple choose a certification […]

Finally, after several problems and delays in shipment, I’ve received the VCDX4 welcome kit (with the letter dated “November 12, 2010“) relative of my upgrade of previous VCDX3 certification. As already written by several VCDXs, the certify is now only a paper version, with the wall plate (but I suppose that probably for new VCDX4 this version is still there). Apparently there isn’t any shirt with the welcome kit… but in the letter is included a specific voucher to have it from the VCDX4 Store.

So the last VCDX4 defense opportunity will not be Frankfurt, as written in a previous post… By popular demand, the VCDX program has added another opportunity to attempt VCDX.  This will take place in the Toronto, Ontario, Canada, metropolitan area during the week of May 7 through 11, 2012.  The exact address will be provided to registered candidates who are accepted to defend. Registration will open on February 20, 2012.  Applications are due March 12, 2012. See the full announce on the VMware Community: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/330361

Although still there isn’t any news about the VCDX5 certification (and there are only few info about VCAP5-DCA and VCAP5-DCD), I would like to bring to your attention some interesting threads about the VCDX program: Announcing the last (?) See on: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/323082 As most people reading this know, VMware recently announced its vSphere 5 product release.  Although certifications based on vSphere 4 retain their value, we must march onwards; for instance, VCP5 has already been announced.  To this end, today there is the announce of the final opportunity to attempt the VCDX certification based on vSphere 4 designs (this would mean that the VCDX5 certification could be near the corner? maybe in middle 2012?). The city will be Frankfurt, Germany, and the dates will be February 6-10, 2012.  Applications for this session will open on November 14, […]
