The current version of the VCP5(-DV) certification blueprint has been changes in the last months. My study notes are still on version 1.2 of the blueprint, but there still valid also with the version 1.41; but now, starting from version 2.x there are some major changes.

Most documents reference are now updated to vSphere 5.1 documentation, some remains with the old links.

This is a list of changes between v1.x and 2.5 (current version):

  • Objective 1.5 – Identify vSphere Architecture and Solutions
Added a new point: Identify the various datacenter solutions that interact with vSphere (View, SRM, Lab Manager, etc)
  • Objective 3.2 – Configure the Storage Virtual Appliance for vSphere
    Removed the entire section!
  • Objective 5.5 – Backup and Restore Virtual Machines
    Removed the entire section!

As you can notice, the exam has been revised to make it applicable to both 5.0 and 5.1. For this reason there is no references to VDP, VDR, SSO, … This FAQ confirm that is still an exam on a generic 5.x version!
