Reading Time: 3 minutes The Cloud path is one of the new certifications paths from VMware announced during the last VMworld US. I’m not sure that it will remain an independent (from the -DCV) path also in the future, considering that VMware now is pushing on the vCloud Suite rather than only the single vSphere or vCloud Director part. But this is just a my guess. Actually the Datacenter Virtualization (vSphere) and the Cloud (vCloud Director and related products) are two separated certifications paths.

Reading Time: < 1 minute Recently there were some changes in the VMware Certifications Portal: The “old” VCP certification, renamed some months ago in VCP-DV and been (again) renamed in VCP-DCV (so we have VCP4-DCV and VCP5-DCV certifications). Some changes are applied to VCDX certification (VCDX4-DCV and VCDX5-DCV). Other certifications related to datacenter virtualization path actually remain with the current name (VCAP-DCA, VCAP-DCD). A new VCAP exam has been added and is the VCAP5-DTD, the one design related for the EUC path. All certification related paths as been rebuild with a new graphics… not sure if is better than before. Reading Time: < 1 minute In the April 2013 issue of VMUG Voice Magazine, there is a Featured Blogger about me: In this space, VMUG Voice features prominent VMware- and virtualization-focused blogs. This month we feature Andrea Mauro and his popular vInfrastructure Blog. Mauro has worked in IT since 1996 and held several technical certifications (including VCP, VCAP, VCDX, MCITP, MCSA, MCSE, CCA) and earned several accreditations and honors (including vExpert in 2010, 2011 and 2012). As CIO of Assyrus, an Italian IT company, Mauro is a virtualization expert, and he founded Italy’s VMware User Group. Check out Mauro’s blog, […]

Reading Time: 3 minutes I’ve already talk about Cloud Credibility in a previous post. The idea is to create a “cloud expertise” or rather plan a growth path, using a scoring mechanism (Cloud Cred score) and awards. Although the principle and the purpose can been correct, there are some doubts about the actual utility.

Reading Time: 2 minutes VMware Press is a publishing alliance between Pearson and VMware, and is the official publisher of VMware books and training materials that provide guidance for the critical topics facing today’s technology professionals and students. There are several interesting book already available, and lot that must be published on the next months. Of course is not the only VMware books related repository, considering that some “best sellers” like (for example):VMware vSphere 5 Clustering Technical Deepdive and Mastering VMware vSphere 5. Also for certifications there are several other study books (like this one for VCP).

Reading Time: < 1 minute You have “only” 12 months to plan you upgrade (or better your migration) to Windows 7 or Windows 8. On April 8th 2014 Windows XP goes end of life (after a very long period)! Note that this will impact both Windows XP SP3 and also Office 2003. How migrate has not a single possible response: you can use VDI, but also other solutions like, for example, VMware Mirage, Liquidware solutions, Dell Quest Migration services, …

Reading Time: 4 minutes Software Defined Networking (SDN) is revolutionizing the traditional networking approaches that have become too complex, closed, proprietary and/or difficult to program. The technology has the potential to enable network innovation by allowing network owners and operators more control of their infrastructure, thus allowing customization, optimization, and the reduction in overall capital and operational expenses. SDN is still early in its lifecycle, and has not yet crossed the chasm. The technology today is maturing fast and growing its ecosystem, but there is still much to be discussed, explored, innovated and built. Analyst firm IDC predicts the […]
