According with the official web site, the “old” Microsoft Certified Master (MCM) certification level has recently been renamed inĀ  Microsoft Certified Solutions Master (MCSM). The reason is to align MCSA, MCSE, MCSD, and MCSM into a common naming scheme.

The existing MCM certifications are unaffected by the certification name changes. And also the MCM certification will not expire.

MCSM certification is still a prerequisite for all Microsoft Certified Architect (MCA) certifications.
