Veeam has just released the new version of Backup & Replication program with a lot of enhancement and new cool features (and also with a new product edition).

Most of the related news are already know (partially I’ve describe some of them in this previous post), now it’s time to test and use them!

About the edition it’s almost clear that only the Enterprise Plus (term aligned to the one exiting in vSphere editions) will have all of them. Existing Enterprise customers can upgrade to it (but of course then the renewal fee will also increase), but maybe they don’t really need (no need of WAN acceleration or no supported Storage integration).

Veeam7Editions

Storage integration that actually support only HP products: 3PAR and LeftHand. But it’s completely modular, so could be extended in the future. No rumors on next plug-ins but I hope to see also for other storage vendors (anyway huge congrats both to Veeam and HP for this results).

Veeam7StorageIntegration

About the supported OS and hypervisors the approach of Veeam is really pragmatic: for this kind of product, no support for beta (or not GA) versions. This mean no support (yet) for Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 (and related Hyper-V) or next version of VMware vSphere. A difference compared with Veeam B&R 6.5 that was fully supported (and one the of first) both vSphere 5.1 and Windows Server 2012… but it was released on October 2012, and not in August!
