Be a VMUG member bring several advantages and it’s for free. But there is also the optional VMUG Advantage that, with a small fee, is the best way to stay on top of your technical skills with discounts on training, certifications, attendance at VMworld and on product licenses.

Now there is a new reason to subscribe the VMUG Advantage and it’s call VMUG Advantage EVALExperience: it gives you exclusive access to nine VMware applications to test for 365 days. EVALExperience provides all of the tools you need to stay in the game and take your career to the next level, all in one place!

VMUGTo enable IT professionals to explore VMware technology, VMware User Group (VMUG) and VMware, with the partnership of Kivuto Solutions, provide current and new VMUG Advantage Subscribers with a new EVALExperience offering for selected products.

VMUG members with a current VMUG Advantage Subscription are eligible. EVALExperience is an exclusive new offering from VMware which allows you to explore VMware technology for a 365 day period in a non-production environment.

Included products are:

  • VMware vCenter Server™ 5 Standalone for vSphere 5
  • VMware vSphere® with Operations Management™ Enterprise Plus
  • VMware vCloud Suite® Standard
  • VMware vRealize™ Operations Insight™
  • VMware vRealize Operations™ 6 Enterprise
  • VMware vRealize Log Insight™
  • VMware vRealize Operations for Horizon®
  • VMware Horizon® Advanced Edition
  • VMware Virtual SAN™

Per VMware’s End License User Agreement: If you are licensing the Software for evaluation purposes, your use of the Software is only permitted in a non-production environment and for the period limited by the License Key. Notwithstanding any other provision in this EULA, an Evaluation License of the Software is provided “AS-IS” without indemnification, support or warranty of any kind, expressed or implied.

This is pretty similar to the MSDN program, for the Microsoft’s IT Professionals (although in Microsoft case there is access to a vast library of software and solutions, but to be honest is also more costly).

Maybe some remember the VMTN Subscription that was similar to Microsoft MSDN or TechNet – where for relatively small yearly fee you could download the core enterprise software and run it for 1year. On November 2011, Mike Laverick has ask to bring back this kind of program, or at least this kind of benefit, because the VMTN Subscription program was cancelled in 2007 and never re-instated.

For VMware’s partners was not an issue (due to the internal licenses), but for other people was a big lack. Now finally there is something similar back!
