Reading Time: 2 minutesMicrosoft TechEd was the annual conference for developers and IT professionals working or interested in Microsoft technologies. The first TechEd happened in 1993 in Orlando, Florida and the last took place in Barcelona in 2014. This was also the last big Microsoft event in Europe.
Starting from 2015, Microsoft rescheduled its conference schedule and introduced the Microsoft Ignite event. First Ignite was in Spring 2015 in Chicago and the next one is scheduled in Atlanta on September 26–30, 2016.
Ignite is not the only big international conference from Microsoft, but probably is the most interesting for most of the audience. This is a list of the biggest Microsoft conference planned for 2016:
- Microsoft Build: San Francisco March 30 – April 1
- Microsoft Convergence: New Orleans April 4 – April 7
- Microsoft WPC: Toronto July 10 – July 14
- Microsoft Ignite: Atlanta September 26 – September 30
There are several reasons to attend at this kind of conference, but there is a big issue: there isn’t an European Ignite edition, so for EMEA people it mean travel and time costs or sometimes also travel restrictions.
There are many people in Europe and other parts of the world that aren’t able to attend a non-European conference but actually there isn’t any information if Microsoft are planning a European Ignite conference or not.
Additional Microsoft Ignite events also take place in Australia, New Zealand and China later in the year. The 2015 events attracted around 2000 people per event. Below are the details for those three events.
But no one planned for Europe. If you want to have back one big Microsoft event in Europe, there is an online petition to get our voices heard: Bring Microsoft Ignite to Europe!
