In the past months there was no new news from Atlantis Computing and last press release is from October 2016! Not good signs at all from a technology company. Also recentrly the Slack channel for ACEs has been closed without any notice and some people are starting left the company.

All seems related to this acquisition: Hive-IO has bought certain assets of Atlantis Computing, a struggling supplier of VDI and hyperconverged infrastructure software, for undisclosed financial terms.

It’s funny (but also sad) that in the year of HCI a company with a good hyperconverged solution has this issues, but probably all has started with some risky choices, like moving from a software solution to (also) an appliance based solution (nobody remember what’s happen to EVO Rail?)… could be a good move, but if you start in this way, otherwise could mean great investment and a different (maybe positive, but also negative) acceptance from the market.

Atlantis found itself in difficulties and was in financial negotiations about its future in late June. Now will be interesting what’s will happen, what kind of assetts Hive-IO has acquired and what will be the future of Atlantis brand and products.

Hive-IO already has some similar solutions (launched in November 2015), that includes, VDI, virtualized servers, infrastructure, storage, and security with built-in and interoperable provisioning, lifecycle management, guest and host security and remote management capabilities.
