VMware Cloud on AWS is an on-demand service that enables you to run applications across vSphere-based cloud environments with access to a broad range of AWS services.

Powered by VMware Cloud Foundation, this service integrates vSphere, vSAN and NSX along with VMware vCenter management, and is optimized to run on dedicated, elastic, bare-metal AWS infrastructure. With this service, IT teams can manage their cloud-based resources with familiar VMware tools.

Announced during VMworld 2016, finally was available during VMworld 2017 (actually only available in the US regions Virginia and Oregon).

Now VMware Cloud on AWS is newly available in the AWS EU (London) Region, in addition to AWS US East (N. Virginia) region and AWS US West (Oregon) region.

It’s “Europe” but considing the Brexit it’s not exactly in the EU. But it’s the first step and other region and datacenter will be added in this year.

Mark Garman, vice president of AWS Compute Services, explained that its European customers had been asking for access to the service for a while.

“Customers have been asking us to bring VMware Cloud on AWS to Europe, and we are excited to be doing that today in the UK,” he said.

“Working together, VMware and AWS are delivering deeper AWS integration so that customers won’t have to manage their own storage and database services.”
