Reading Time: 6 minutes OpenIO is a startup founded in 2015 by a team of 7 co-founders, experts in mail and data infrastructures. The headquarter is located in Lille, France, and there is also an OpenIO office in San Francisco. Their product OpenIO SDS is an interesting Object Storage solution very service and application oriented with several “connectors” for different cases. They are growing quite fast and on September 13 they will host the second big event: OpenIO Summit 2018
Reading Time: 3 minutes Dell EMC has probably a storage portfolio too rich and with some overlaps, due to the EMC acquisition, and I was quite sure that the Dell PowerVault MD storage series was destined for early obsolescence to be replaced by the Compellent series. But obviously, I was wrong. Dell EMC announced a new PowerVault line: Dell EMC PowerVault ME4. As the previous PowerVault MD series, also the new PowerVault ME4 (very strange name) is targeted for the specific SMB market.
Reading Time: 3 minutes Just a few weeks ago, VMware has released NSX Data Center for vSphere v6.4.2 and now it’s the turn of a new version: NSX Data Center for vSphere v6.4.3. NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.4.3 addresses a number of specific customer bugs. See Resolved Issues for more information. The release notes describe other aspects, but there aren’t new features or specific improvement in this new release.

The biggest example was the vCenter Server that has start as a Windows installable software. Other products like Horizon View, vRealized Automation, Chargeback Manager, SRM, … were also based on Windows with some installable components. But rely on a general purpose OS makes more complicated the management (for example for patching) and makes longer the deployment time. Reading Time: 2 minutes VMware Horizon version 7.4 was released at the begin of this year, and now VMware has just released the new version of VMware Horizon: version 7.6 has several improvements as documented in the release notes. So a really active year for EUC and VDI. VMware has also released VMware User Environment Manager 9.5 and VMware AppVolumes 2.14.2.
Reading Time: 3 minutes Three years ago, VMware has decided to make VMware Tools an independent package, with a separate lifecycle and available in the MyVMware download page as a separated package. Separated and independent from VMware Fusion, Workstation and ESXi virtualization solutions! Seems good, but on vSphere environment, this can make some confusion considering that you have the VMware Tools bundled with ESXi and the standalone VMware Tools usually with a bigger version and independent also by the version of vSphere!

Maybe not available resources, maybe some files that are missing, maybe some incompatibility… But normally you can put the error message and found the proper VMware KB that can help you.
