After some months from the announce, finally VMware vSphere 6.7 Update 1 is now generally available (GA) and you can now download all the bits. Of course, this also mean a new version of the VMware vSAN 6.7 Update 1.

But more importantly it means also a fully featured vSphere Client with the new version of the HTML5 client in vSphere 6.7 Update 1! There is a bunch of videos available on YouTube with all the HTML5 client features.

But before read more, note that actually Veeam Backup and Replication does not support vSphere 6.7 Update 1, due to a critical issue in the backup (anyway there is a temporal workaround for this problem, but only Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5 Update 4 will fully support the new vSphere 6.7 Update 1).

For other backup programs it’s not clear if there is a similar issue, but actually seems that only Veeam is affected. Anyway, before proceeding with the update of your infrastructure (if you already have vSphere 6.7) or the upgrade of your infrastructure (if you have vSphere 6.0 or 6.5) check all the compatibilities matrix!

Note that there are also other minor “issues” or different behaviers, as documented in this post from Michael White: vSphere 6.7 Update 1 – things I have noticed

VMware vSphere 6.7 Update 1 has several improvements described in this blog post.

But the two most interesting are the support of vSphere 6.5 Update 2 (yes you can upgrade it) and the “Converge Tool” to move from an external PSC to an embedded one.

Emad Younis has written a blog post on the news of vCenter 6.7 Update 1.

For more information on all changes and improvements see the related release notes:

No news yet about the VMware vSphere Platinum availability, but it’s also composed by a cloud service (AppDefense) and so maybe will require more time.

The new build numbers are:

  • ESXi 6.7 build 10302608
  • vCenter 6.7 build 10244745
