In VMware Workstation 17.6.1, when I create a Rocky Linux VM, there is no way to enable UEFI firmware from the GUI.
Only BIOS is selected and UEFI remain grey out:
Changing the virtual hardware (compatibility level) does not help.
I’ve not tried yet to upgrade Workstation, so I just modify the VMX configuration file by adding this line:
firmware="efi"
Save the VMX file, re-open the VM and now the UEFI boot mode is enabled.
This issue seems related only to Linux VM, for Windows VM is possible change the boot mode.
