Reading Time: < 1 minute I’ve already written a post about the reintroduction of the MCSA and MCSE certifications. Now that some of them are live (MCSA on Windows Server 2008 was the first, now also the MCSE on Private Cloud is available) the new certification schema has become more clear. Seems that there on new products only this model will be adopted (so probably no new version of MCTS or MCITP certification) and those MCSE certifications are already be announced: MCSE Private Cloud: already available… Is the new version of the MCITP on virtualization and management. MCSE Server Infrastructure: […]

Reading Time: < 1 minute VMware and SpringSource have released some certifications specific for the Spring Framework: Spring Professional Web Application Developer Enterprise Integration Specialist For more informations see also the Spring Framework Certification page.

Reading Time: 5 minutes From an initiative of Gregg Robertson, this is a short interview. The original page is at: VCDX Spotlight- Andrea Mauro How did you get into using VMware? As most people I’ve started of course with VMware Workstation and honestly not with the ESX 1.0 (I remember that was not possible, at least in my Country) to have an evaluation or trial version. My first virtualization project (for academic purposes) was building a virtual honeynet with Linux UML (it was the end of 2001). My first virtualization project based for a production system virtualization solution was […]

Reading Time: < 1 minute VMware is working a new certification specific for the “cloud”: VMware Certified Professional 5 – Infrastructure as a Service (VCP5-IaaS). Some individuals are about to be invited to paticipate in the beta phase. The rumor goes that the public exam should be live late July. The exam will probably measure the skills and abilities installing, configuring and administering a vCloud environment. Sign up here to know as soon as it’s publicly available. Reading Time: 3 minutes Some days ago I’ve received a new book (VCP5 VMware Certified Professional on vSphere 5 Study Guide: Exam VCP-510) and this his the review. The author, Brian Atkinson, is a well-know guy in the virtualization field: he is VMware vExpert 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 as also a moderator and guru in VMware community (vmroyale is his nick). This book reflects is experience and also the community contribution (the technical editor was Troy Clavell, another well-know guy in the community), as also the direct experience in the VCP5 exam (Brian passed it in the beta […]

Reading Time: 3 minutes Last week I’ve taken the official VCAP5-DCD, to remediate the failure of the VCAP5-DCD beta and  try to gain this certification. The exam is really huge: The VDCD510 exam contains 100 questions (in the beta 131). The total time for this exam is 225 minutes (same of the beta). Candidates who take the VDCD510 exam in a country where English is not a primary language will have an additional 30 minutes added to the exam time. This time extension is automatic, no additional action is required from the candidate. There were jsut a few questions with a […]

Reading Time: 2 minutes On the VMware Community (in the Training & Certification area) has recently been confirmed that there are new VCDX4 defenses (for the original post see: VCDX Defenses at VMworld San Francisco and Barcelona 2012). So the Toronto defence will not be the last opportunity for VCDX4 certification (as written in a previous post) and is a good news for people involved in this kind of certification that require several time. Also I consider a good choice to permit the VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) defenses at VMworld San Francisco and VMworld Barcelona. The travel expenses […]
