Reading Time: 2 minutes Like in previous VMworld editions, the #vBrownbag TechTalks are returning also this year, both in the US and the European edition. The TechTalks are ten-minute presentations by community members at an industry conference. Most of them (and the original idea of the vBrownBag “unconference” was this) are originated with sessions not being accepted for the main conference catalog. We know we want to learn from the community so we arranged an alternative forum. TechTalks are limited to ten minutes; they deliver the very core of an idea. Keeping presentations short also means we can do […]

Reading Time: 2 minutes Veeam has just announced the Veeam Vanguard program: represents their brand to the highest level in many of the different technology communities. It’s a program around the community of Veeam experts that truly get our message, understand our products and are our closest peers in IT. For several aspects, like the VMware vExpert or Microsoft MVP program, where the communities contribution is one of the main aspect. In this first rounds 31 individuals are chosen for their acumen, engagement and style in their activities on and offline.

Reading Time: 2 minutes Just four years ago this blog has started its life (see the first official post: Blog goes live), initially with a different domain name, but fastly changed with the final one (shorted and probably simpler). In those four years I’ve wrote about all the vSphere 5.x editions (starting with the first 5.0 announce), but not only on vSphere, by covering also other VMware (and non VMware) products. Compared to the previous year (see the related post: Third year of vInfrastructure blog), the blog has grow, expecially in the number of visitors (and recurring visitors) and […]

Reading Time: 4 minutes LXC (Linux Containers) is an operating-system-level virtualization environment for running multiple isolated Linux systems (containers) on a single Linux control host. Nothing completly new, but is reaching more and more interested also from big vendors (like VMware with cloud native applications or Microsoft with their own container implementation for Windows). CoreOS is a minimal Linux operation system optimized to run Linux containers, such as Docker and rkt. It has a fully automated, reliable, and stable  update system but without a complete package manager. By default, it is designed to build powerful and easily manageable server clusters […]

Reading Time: 4 minutes As you know the VMUG membership is completly free as also all the benefits, including the online resources, local meeting and UserConf events (some events may have a fee depending by the local VMUG, but almost are for free). But, if you want (and it’s not mandatory for VMUG membership), you can have more benefit by subscribing to the VMUG Advantage, that is an interesting way to stay on top of your technical skills with discounts on training, certifications, attendance at VMworld and on product licenses.

Reading Time: < 1 minute Interesting European IT events: London VMUG Meeting – London (July, 9) Ireland VMUG Meeting – Dublin (July, 9) Madrid VMUG Meeting – Madrid (July, 10) DataCentre Transformation Manchester – Manchester (July, 14)

Reading Time: 3 minutes Orchestration in VMware environments is something still not so well explored and explained. Historically there was only vCenter Orchestrator from one side (if you are looking something at high level) and scripting from the other (if you know PowerShell or other scripting languages). Now for the first part there is vRealize Automation, but still the Orchestrator part could be necessary (for example to use vRealize Automation with VMware NSX). The book “VMware vRealize Orchestrator Cookbook” has the ambition purpose to explain how to master the configuration, programming, and interaction of plugins with Orchestrator to efficiently […]
