Reading Time: 2 minutes So the rumors were true: Dell is going sell the Dell Software division to Francisco Partners, a leading technology-focused private equity firm, and Elliott Management Corporation. Just few months ago Dell sells Perot Systems unit to NTT Data at loss of $800 million, and with this new move is going to make as much cash is possible for the Dell-EMC deal. Both moves are clear and clever: Perot was never been integrated in Dell services (at least non in all counties) and Dell Software was already an independent division. Probably there will something else that will be sold, but lets […]

Reading Time: 4 minutes Also if is not yet clear the impact of the EMC acquisition by Dell, at least in the storage portfolio, seems clear that the Dell storage strategy for the next years will be Compellent centric, with the position of this type of product also as a future replacement for the PowerVault MD3 and EqualLogic. Dell storage portfolio has slightly change with the introduction of the SC4020 (as a mid-size solution) and then the SC2000v as a entry level solution. The Dell VSM is a virtual appliance that is downloaded as part of the all-inclusive Dell EqualLogic software support and can be installed into an existing VMware vCenter environment. Actually exist two main versions of this product:

Reading Time: 2 minutes Dell Storage portfolio has grown in those years, also from some acquisitions (EqualLogic and Compellent) and some partnership (like the recent with Nutanix for the XC Series) becoming more complete and spread. Actually there are three main lines in the “traditional” storage world that include: MD3 series (based on NetApp technologies), PS series (based on EqualLogic) and SC series (based on Compellent). And new solutions for the hyper-converged world, including the XC series and VMware EVO:RAIL appliances (but also other partnership, like the one with Nexenta or RedHat).
