Migrating EqualLogic replicas

Reading Time: 2 minutes In the previous post I’ve describe how migrate volumes across two (or more) EqualLogic in the same group, using different storage pools. In the same way is also possible migrate the data on the disaster recovery site: in this case data are the remote volume replicas that are stored in a single container called delegated space. Each destination of a (asynchronous) replication must have a proper delegated space (and only one!), and a delegated space can be stored on a single storage pool.

Reading Time: 4 minutes During an array migration usually you can use application level trick to move your data between the old and the new array. For example with VMware vSphere you can use the Storage vMotion features (now added also in lower edition of vSphere 5.1) or with Microsoft Hyper-V 3 you can use the new Storage Live Migration feature. But in some case you may have also an option at storage level. For example to migrate across two Dell EqualLogic array (also different models) you can use the embedded function.

How a technical course must be

Reading Time: 2 minutes I’ve already completed a four full immersion days of a Dell-Compellent technical course to become a Dell Compellent Authorized Installation Professional. This was a good example on how a technical course (and it’s certification) must be. Considering that a Dell-Compellent Storage has an important part related to cabling (and design the right topologies) this course is available only in a real class (make not sense to make in a virtual mode) with la lab to permit each candidate to make it’s tasks and tests.

Dell EqualLogic Host Integration Tools for Linux 1.1 – Some notes

Reading Time: 3 minutes Has written in the previous post, Dell EqualLogic Host Integration Tools for Linux 1.1 officially support only a few Linux OS, but it can work fine also on others. Actually the distributions is RPM based, so there is a bigger effor to port it to other distro, like Debian and Ubuntu.
