Reading Time: 2 minutes Seams that the new VMware vSphere 6.7 Update 1 will break all the Veeam Backup & Replication backup jobs! As reported in the Veeam KB 2443, VMware 6.7 Update 1 is actually NOT supported by Veeam B&R and will be supported only with Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 4. More information are available on Veeam KB 2784 and this forum thread.

Reading Time: 2 minutes After some months from the announce, finally VMware vSphere 6.7 Update 1 is now generally available (GA) and you can now download all the bits. Of course, this also mean a new version of the VMware vSAN 6.7 Update 1. But more importantly it means also a fully featured vSphere Client with the new version of the HTML5 client in vSphere 6.7 Update 1! There is a bunch of videos available on YouTube with all the HTML5 client features. But before read more, note that actually Veeam Backup and Replication does not support vSphere 6.7 […]

Reading Time: 3 minutes In the last Veeam Community Forums Digest, there are some interesting notes about some possible issues with vSphere Storage vMotion, that usually is used to move backup your VMs in the original datastore during a Instant VM Recovery (IR). Seems that there is major bug in Storage VMotion functionality of vSphere 6.7 when you are using the optional IR feature that allows you to redirect virtual disk updates to the selected datastore.

Reading Time: 4 minutes If you are running VMware vSphere 5.5 or 6.x you may have some issues with VM snapshots with the risk that VMs may report guest data inconsistencies! Not funny at all and potentially a critical problem that must be planned, considering that VM snapshots are used by all VM native backup products! And more serious that the cosmetic snapshot “issue” in VMware vSphere 6.0 using the vSphere C# Client. This issue is still open for vSphere 5.5 (and probably will remain un-fixed considerind that v5.5 is in End of General Support), 6.0 and 6.5.

Reading Time: 3 minutes VMware vSphere 5.5 is really close to its End of Support, that will mean no more updates and possible limited support from VMware. The End of General Support for vSphere 5.5 is September 19, 2018. To maintain your full level of support and subscription services, VMware recommends upgrading to vSphere 6.5, or to a newer version.

Reading Time: 3 minutes Three years ago, VMware has decided to make VMware Tools an independent package, with a separate lifecycle and available in the MyVMware download page as a separated package. Separated and independent from VMware Fusion, Workstation and ESXi virtualization solutions! Seems good, but on vSphere environment, this can make some confusion considering that you have the VMware Tools bundled with ESXi and the standalone VMware Tools usually with a bigger version and independent also by the version of vSphere!
