Sometimes you may want to replace an existing Veeam vSphere proxy with a new one, for example because you choose a different Linux distribution (maybe you are looking at some CentOS Linux alternatives).
One option is add a new proxy, but you may have already some setting related to the old proxy and you don’t want to reconfigure everything.
The other option is replace the proxy with a new with the SAME IP and SAME name!
This is possible because the proxy are basically stateless machines (when they are not working!) so can be easier replaced and reconfigured.
Build the new Linux proxy server, with the same IP, same name and same veeam user and password (or you may want to use a new stronger password).
Then go in the Backup Infrastructure part and select the list of Linux systems:
Select the proxy that you have replaced and choose Properties…
Accept the new SSH key:
And just click Finish… all the required packed will be reinstalled (it will require few minutes).
Click Finish again. Now you must switch to the Backup Proxy view and repeat the procedure.
Choose Properties…
Click next, VDDK will be installed:
Now just click next and Finish.
