Big news in VMware certifications

Reading Time: 2 minutesEffective from May 6, 2024, there are some important news in VMware certifications: a new Certification Manager 2.0 portal page (https://cp.certmetrics.com/vmware/en/credentials/status), new New Certification Version Badges, Standardize Exam Fees for all exams, and the new Certification by Exam Only path! The standard exam fee apply an all VCTA, VCP, and VCAP exams will now be charged a flat fee of USD $250.00. This new fee structure will take effect on May 6, 2024, and will apply to all new registrations, renewals, and retakes. There will be no changes to the exam content.

My experience with the Advanced Deploy vSphere 6.5 2018 exam

Reading Time: 6 minutesThe Advanced Deploy vSphere 6.5 2018 exam is one of the first “new rebranded” VMware exam, with the new naming convention. The exam 3V0-21.18 is basically the old VCAP-Deploy (or Admin) based on VMware vSphere 6.5 (actually only the VCP-DCV has been updated to vSphere 6.7, yet) and can be used to obtain the VCAP-DCV 2018 (VMware Certified Advanced Professional — Data Center Virtualization Deploy 2018) certification.

VCP and VCAP numbers

Reading Time: 2 minutesHow many VCP or VCAP people there are in the world and how many for each country? This is a not simple question, because of the lack of an official list of names. The only list that is keep updated is the VCDX directory, but you will not found something similar for other VMware’s certifications. At the beginning of VCAP exams, there was a unique serial ID, so was easy guess those number for VCAP (and potentially also for VCP, because there was also a unique sequential ID for all VCPs).

Big changes in VCIX-NV certification

Reading Time: 2 minutesThe Network Certified Implementation Expert (VCIX-NV) certification was something different compare to other “advanced” level certifications in other VMware paths: only a lab based exam (the deploy, configuration and manage part) and you have done! Other VCIX paths require both the admin (now simple called deploy, but it’s not only deploy related) and the design exam, and recently both intermediate exam has been called again VCAP exam (see this post).

Based upon the feedback that VMware has received from the users, they have decided to update the structure of our advanced credentials. As you probably know the VCAP formally was “replaced” by the new VCIX certication:

Reading Time: 3 minutesWith the announce of vSphere 6.0 there are of course a new bunch of certifications, changed not only in the version, but also in some other details. I’ve wrote about the new VMware certifications some weeks ago, and also on the upgrade rules from vSphere 5 based certifications. But finally, with the announce of the VMware Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization, now available in beta (so this is the first VMware public beta for an exam?) a new column is going to populating the new certification roadmap.

Are you ready for new VMware’s certifications?

Reading Time: 5 minutesSo not only the new releases of some VMware products have been announced… but also new certifications, new levels and new paths. The VMware certification roadmap announced at VMworld 2012 was almost clear and related to the tecnologies used (and owned by VMware) at that time. But, except the moving of the developer certification to the Pivotal initiative, the paths have been the same until now (with the new entry of Network Virtualization) and the new VCA level.
