The Nutanix .NEXT 2024 Barcelona event is concluded and was a big success! Good numbers for an European event. And good interested.

The .NEXT event was three days of keynotes, breakouts, hands-on-labs, and certification sessions all around the Nutanix vision, product portfolio and new announcements.

Considering on what’s happened with the Broadcom acquisition, Nutanix has a big opportunity to become a big player (it’s already a big player, but now can grow more faster).

Some of the key announcements

  • 10 years of Nutanix AHV: a big milestone for product that has start from scratch (based on KVM, but designed to make a full integrated stack).
  • Kubernetes Management (NKP): not just a Karbon .NEXT, but a new platform. NKP combines the Nutanix Kubernetes Engine (NKE) features with our recent acquisition of the D2iQ product family to bring a consolidated runtime, orchestration, and management environment to our cloud native customers. NKP continues to build upon a rich history of valuable Nutanix cloud native products and integrations.
  • Project Beacon: a platform-as-a-service initiative that will span several years based on Kubernetes Management (NKP) and Infrastructure Data Services (AOS on containers for portability) to the Nutanix “Build Once, Run Anywhere” project. The goal? To make data-centric PaaS available on Nutanix or (and that “or” is where the options enter the picture) from public cloud providers.
  • Nutanix Central: the hybrid cloud management platform, now Generally Available (GA). Nutanix Central gives customers a cloud operating model to unify their experience and view and manage their Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP) and Nutanix services deployed on-premises and in the public cloud via Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2).
  • GPT in a box 2.0: the new turnkey GPT solution. A secure, full-stack enterprise AI platform built on web-scale data services to deploy your large language models (LLMs), ML Operations (MLOps), and generative AI (GenAI) apps anywhere – from core to edge to cloud.
  • Nutanix renewed its partnership with Dell Technologies: actually was announced Nutanix Cloud Platform for Dell PowerFlex, but we should expect probably a new Dell appliance (XC 2.0 or NXRail or something similar) with Dell hardware, Nutanix software, sold and serviced by Dell. Probably using the same vxRail existing hardware platform.
  • Support for external 3rd party storage for more flexibility, starting with Dell Powerflex and later expanding to other IP-connected storage. FC seems not yet to be considered… but for sure NVMeoF and RDMA will be included.
  • Cloud Native AOS: ith early access planned for the second half of 2024. Will take Nutanix proven and resilient AOS stack and deliver it in a containerized platform. Cloud Native AOS will deliver automated replication of all container data across availability zones and regions allowing a container to seamlessly access its data wherever it is running. With this capability, even the simplest application will benefit from the most advanced levels of resilience and high availability.
  • Snapshots from NC2 on AWS into S3 buckets, restore anywhere- GA imminently.
  • High-performance and dense nodes: to accelerate AI workloads. Up to 550+ TB all-NVMe nodes!

What NEXT?

Next events will be the Nutanix .NEXT on tour: get the best of the show in this special touring version of .NEXT — live and in person, somewhere near you.

For Europe there will be three different locations, but the dates are not yet defined:

And .NEXT Americas 2025 (probably on the East Coast) will be the world’s top hybrid cloud event, with the sessions and hands-on training you need to run modern apps and AI everywhere—from the cloud to the edge. And when you preregister, you’ll receive exclusive offers and updates.
