Reading Time: 4 minutesThe exam VCAP5-CID is the design part of the Cloud path and it’s mandatory (with the admin exam) to reach the VCDX-Cloud certification (actually there is already somebody with the double VCDX certifications). Also it could give the VCP-Cloud certification in some cross-path scenarios. I’ve take this exam some week after the VCAP5-CIA (see my related experience) and I suggest this strategies for two reasons: there are some admin related questions (more than one, so if you are really fresh from the CIA exam you will find them easy) and some concepts are really common […]

Reading Time: 2 minutesThe VCAP5-CID certification is the design part of the VMware cloud path. The format is also the same of the other two design exams (VCAP-DTD and VCAP-DCD) with serveral questions (also with multiple choiches), drag-and-drop items and specialized design items. And it’s very long with a lot of time, but also a lot of questions! It’s also mandatory, as the VCAP5-CIA exam, for the VCDX-Cloud path. VUE Exam code is VCID510 (other code were used for beta), and (as other VCAP exams) it require an authorization (and also it’s listed in the VMware Advanced exams).

Reading Time: 2 minutesAs you know the EMEA edition of #vBrownbag his covering the the Cloud path with the relavitve VCAP exams and blueprint (for more information, see the full list of certification paths and my session at the #vBrownbag at VMworld). The next scheduled session is dedicated at VCAP5-CIA certification (the admin part of the cloud path) with an analysis of section 3 of the official blueprint (related to Managing vCloud Director Resources):

Reading Time: 8 minutesSeveral weeks ago I’ve tried the Admin related VCAP exam in the cloud certification path. I’ve already taken the Admin exams from the DCV path and was almost confident with the environment and type of task (at least the type of difficult level and type of format). I’ve also spend several words to commend this kind of exam format that really prove the admin capabilities instead the mnemonic; also it’s almost difficult to cheat or copy so the certification itself gain obtain value. About the exam preparation I’ve put some reference in this post: VCAP5-CIA […]

Reading Time: 7 minutesOne of the several interesting topics discussed in the recent event Cloud Communities Day, held on Monday 22 in Milan and with the presence of various communities, as well as analysts and academics, was which could be the most interesting type of cloud. If we limiting to the three basic types: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) or Software as a service (SaaS)… Which one could be the more interesting? As often “it depends” could be the answer, but paradoxically, many have very clear opinions about it (though it is not […]

Reading Time: 4 minutesWhat is virtualization and how it’s related to cloud? There are different types of virtualization levels (system, applications, networking, storage, …). But basically it’s an abstraction useful to created different contexts. Virtualization could be used as an abstraction level of a cloud computing solutions, but virtualization does not imply cloud. What is cloud (computing)? According with the NIST Definition of Cloud Computing, a cloud has those essential characteristics:

Reading Time: 2 minutesAs you know the EMEA edition of #vBrownbag has started and it has covered the VCP on the Cloud and the EUC (or DT) path and some VCAP (for more information, see the full list of certification paths and my session at the #vBrownbag at VMworld). The next scheduled session is dedicated at VCAP5-CIA certification (the admin part of the cloud path) with an introduction and the analysis of section 1 of the official blueprint:
