The VeeamON 2019 at Miami Beach it’s in the books, but what’s happened during the event and which are the more exciting news?

The first big news is consolidatin Veeam’s position from the last VeeamON 2018, no more just a leader for the SMB market, but now it’s a clear leader of the Enterprise market.

An the numbers say that: Veeam became a one billion dollar company in annual bookings with more than 350k customers worldwide!

The company’s ability to continually change and adapt to the market, understand its audience, innovate at pace and analyze how industry inflection points affect customers has seen it become the unequivocal leader in Cloud Data Management — a market that will be worth more than $15B by 2020.

Then finally the announce of Veeam Backup & Replication (and also the Availability Suite) v10… funny that was almost there during the VeeamON 2017 … but anyway this seems the year of v10.

Most of the original announced features are almost there in the v9.5, with the multiple update versions… but now it’s time to switch to the new major version and there will be before the end of the year.

There was also an interesting announce, in part related on what’s happed at the last Nutanix .NEXT event. Veeam unveils new “with Veeam” program to accelerate customer time-to-value and enable secondary storage solutions building “appliance” based on Veeam products.

Depending on partners’ integration efforts and targeted customer segments, “with Veeam” unified solutions will provide a variety of formats and features that are aligned with the varying requirements of different market segments, including:

  • Options for scale-up and scale-out, to address a broad variety of environment sizes, while providing a consistent set of recovery capabilities through Veeam Availability Platform
  • Right-sized compute and storage that aligns with the retention, recovery and Availability goals, and that align with business units’ SLA expectations
  • A single SKU that include installed software and right-sized hardware; simple acquisition from infrastructure vendors’ price lists that many buyers and resellers already use; and single support points of contact for support

As mentioned the first big example is the Nutanix Mine with Veeam solution.

Not only the new Backup product, but has also be announced the new Veeam Availability Orchestrator v2

Other new features delivered in the release of Veeam Availability Orchestrator v2 include the ability to:

  • More easily prove — and proactively remediate where necessary — service level agreement (SLA) attainment for internal and external compliance regulations and audits with enhanced reporting and compliance capabilities.
  • Automatically leverage both backup and replica protection data for use cases beyond recovery verification, such as DevOps, patch and upgrade testing, analytics and more.
  • Empower business units, application owners and operations teams with their own secure access to orchestration planning and testing resources through advanced delegation and role-based access control (RBAC).

Veeam Availability Orchestrator v2 is available now.

And what’s next?

First to all there are several VeeamON Tour around the world… and of course, next year there will be a new VeeamON event: the 2020 edition will be in Las Vegas May 4-6, 2020 at the Aria Hotel!

Still only one single global event… should be nice if Veeam follow the VMware and Nutanix example to make also an EMEA event… but seems that they prefer the (very) local events instead.
