Reading Time: 5 minutes The “call for locations” content has the first result: in April 2014 there are some special edition of the VCAP and VCDX Bootcamp in Europe, outside of the traditional big events (like VMworld or PEX). This is a great opportunity to increase you skills, knowledge but also your confidence with those certification programs. VCAP Bootcamp is mostly dedicated to the design exams, but this time also the admin exams will be considered. VCDX Bootcamp is a half day session (little less) that can really help you in the VCDX preparation, especially to understand the entire […]

Reading Time: 2 minutes GlobalKnowledge as realize a new list of top paying certification (see 15 Top Paying Certifications for 2014). Each year they present this kind of report (see also the 2013 and 2012 note). As usual, some high level certifications are not represented due to their exclusive nature. These include CCIE: Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert and VCDX: VMware Certified Design Expert, and mainly all the Top IT Certifications. Also the truth is that several factors, including geography, industry, experience, and yes, certifications, combine to play a major role in determining an individual’s salary.

Reading Time: < 1 minute VMware has recently released a new new exam to qualify candidates for the VMware Certified Professional 5 – Data Center Virtualization (VCP5-DCV) Certification. This new exam (exam code VCP550) is based on vSphere v5.5, where the existing exam (exam code VCP510) is based on vSphere 5.0/5.1. Passing either of these exams will earn VCP5-DCV certification. Note that does not change the course requirement (for more information see the official certification page) and that now also for VCP exam you need to request an authorization. Is a change in the common approach of have certification based only on […]

Reading Time: 3 minutes Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) certification is documented proof that an engineer possesses the necessary level of expertise to correctly architect, implement and configure Veeam Software Solutions. This certification is a great investment for an IT professional looking to increase productivity, reduce operating costs, propel personal career advancement and achieve industry recognition. It’s a new certification announced by Veeam some month ago in order to bring a technical certification level in the existing partner’s related certifications (sales and technical pre-sales), similar at the (initial) certifications in the VMware partners program. Note that each VMCE is related […]

Reading Time: 5 minutes Several months ago (on 26th August) I’ve taken the VCAP5-DTA beta exam and finally I’ve got the results: it was a pass! This time the confirmation email was slightly different from the usual beta result because also the score report was provided: Thank you for participating in the VMware Certified Advanced Professional – Desktop Administration program. Please find your score report attached. The result was a big surprise not because the exam was really difficult (wasn’t easy), but because was really long with several task to complete, with some of them really time consuming.

Reading Time: 3 minutes The available VCDX defense dates (and locations) for 2014 are been recently announced on a thread in the VMware Community. Some were already well know (during the PEX event). The interesting aspect is that there are more locations (basically one per main Region) and that (actually) seems that there is no plan to bring the defence during the VMworld (not a new idea, but this time make sense, considering the better proposal of dates and places).

Reading Time: < 1 minute My session at vBrownbag Tech Talks will be today: 13:15 – 13:30 “VMware Certifications: which one can (or must) I choose?”
