Reading Time: 3 minutesCompared to vExpert 2015 announce, this year VMware is really sharp and today they have announced the vExpert 2016 list for the first half of the year. Also this time I’ve been confirmed as a vExpert. The list is available on this VMware blog site: vExpert 2016 Award Announcement. Note that also this year, like the 2015, the vExpert program as slightly change again  with one application every six months… So new people will be announced in the second half of this year.

Reading Time: 2 minutesAltaro (a company with an interesting backup solution both for VMware and Hyper-V) has recently published a short interview with 9 vExpert on their views on VMware VSAN and Hyper-Convergence solutions. Hyper-Convergence is the concept of putting storage and compute within the same chassis, with the idea that scale-out storage and computing will be much simpler. There are many companies that are starting to delve into this space, such as VMware with VSAN, Nutanix (one of the pioneer of this kind of approach), and now also Microsoft with Storage Spaces Direct.

Usually it’s time to make the biggest (or the most obvious) predictions for the next years (in  IT, trying to do predictions longer than 5-10 years could be quite difficult considering how fast is changing). I don’t really want to make my own guest on what could happen. Reading Time: 6 minutesDuring the first VeeamON 2015 general session several announces has been done, with some surprise, considering that also new products have been announces. Of course the announce of Veeam Backup & Replication v9 (that potentially may change the name in the future, considering that is not doing anymore ONLY backup & replication), with a fanta-movie during the introduction of the general conference. Lot of features, some already well know, other new. But also two new products: Veeam Managed Backup Portal for Service Providers and Veeam Backup for Linux.
