Reading Time: 2 minutesThere are several rumors about a virtual edition of EqualLogic, targeted especially for the SMB segment and/or the ROBO scenarios. Several storage vendors are proposing a virtual appliance version of some of their solutions (like HP with the virtual “LeftHand”) and actually Dell has nothing in this specific area. The virtual EqualLogic could be the most reasonable product, just because the Compellent series is target for the high end area and usually has a mapping tighten with the hardware (let’s consider how PCI-e slots must be populated). The PowerVault series is just a re-branded of […]

Reading Time: 2 minutesIn the previous post I’ve describe how migrate volumes across two (or more) EqualLogic in the same group, using different storage pools. In the same way is also possible migrate the data on the disaster recovery site: in this case data are the remote volume replicas that are stored in a single container called delegated space. Each destination of a (asynchronous) replication must have a proper delegated space (and only one!), and a delegated space can be stored on a single storage pool.

Reading Time: 4 minutesDuring an array migration usually you can use application level trick to move your data between the old and the new array. For example with VMware vSphere you can use the Storage vMotion features (now added also in lower edition of vSphere 5.1) or with Microsoft Hyper-V 3 you can use the new Storage Live Migration feature. But in some case you may have also an option at storage level. For example to migrate across two Dell EqualLogic array (also different models) you can use the embedded function.

Reading Time: 2 minutesThis event was really interesting and useful. There are several reasons to attend at this kind of event, but networking with other people and with Dell guys remain the main reason.

Dell’s Fluid Data […]

Reading Time: 2 minutesIn some previous posts I’ve described the Dell KACE product family, included the Dell KACE – K1000 and KACE – K2000 products. As I’ve written, one of the limit of the K1000 was the lack of (official) support for mobile device. This limit will be filled soon (estimation release data is Oct 9, 2012) with a new product: Dell KACE K3000 MDM (Mobile Device Management) Appliance with some interesting features. Single-step secure setup that gets you up-and-running in minutes
