Reading Time: 5 minutesAs written in a previous post, I was not able to participate at the beta exam for VCP5-DT (due to no available seats in my Country). So I waited for the official exam also also when I’ve got at least a free day to study for the exam. Yesterday finally I’ve taken the exam and I’ve passed it, so my VCP-DT certifications is updated to v5. As written in the certification official page, the only requirement is have the VCP5 certification, no classes or other certification are mandatory. One year ago was also required the […]

Reading Time: 2 minutesDuring the Partner Exchange (PEX) of last year, VMware has announced a certifications path for the Enterprise Desktop Virtualization area (for more detail see this page). At the event of this year other there was some update on this path. After his beta period, the VCP5-DT exam is now available, as also described in the official page. To become a VCP5-DT you have to: Be a VMware Certified Professional on vSphere 5 (VCP5) Pass the VCP5-DT exam No requirement for a VCA certification, as was also modified in the VCP4-DT. No advantages for who is […]

Reading Time: < 1 minuteToday has started the beta period for the VCP5-DT exam (of course on View 5).  The exam is available through December 20, 2011. I’ve received the official invite, but unfortunately in my Country there is any free seat for the entire beta period (this because only a subset of the testing center are authorized and in my Country there is a single center). By the way, the VCP511-DT beta exam consists of 210 questions and a short pre-exam survey consisting of 7 questions. The time limit for the beta exam is 225 minutes, with an […]

Reading Time: < 1 minuteAfter the recent change in the certification path for VCP4-DT I’ve got some doubts about the future of the VCA-DT certification (if is no more required for other *-DT certifications, why take it?). But seems that this kind of certification will remain also in new 5 release (based on View 5 and vSphere 5), because some rumors give the possible release date of new DT certifications: VCA5-DT (estimated availability late 2011) VCP5-DT (estimated availability early 2012) About the VCAP-DT certification, still there isn’t any official news, both for the v4 and, of course, the v5.

Reading Time: < 1 minuteVMware Education has decided to make enhancements to the Desktop Virtualization Certification Program. Effective immediately, VMware Certified Associate 4 – Desktop (VCA4-DT) certification is not a pre-requisite for the VMware Certified Professional 4 – Desktop (VCP4-DT) exam. For the new path see the official VCP-DT page. All other requirements for the Desktop Certification Program remain the same: for the VCAP-DT certification (still no news about it and when the beta will start) require the VCP-DT (and also the VCP certification, but this was already required for the VCP-DT). Why of this change? Maybe because there […]

Reading Time: 4 minutesThe story is also available on: http://communities.vmware.com/people/AndreTheGiant/blog/2011/06/07/my-thoughts-on-vcp-dt-certification About VCP-DT The VMware Certified Professional 4 – Desktop Certification is the second step of the Desktop Technologies Certifications paths. To become a VCP4-DT: http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=21427&ui=www_cert. Basically the two requirements are: VCP4 and VCA4-DT certifications… no course is mandatory, but some courses are recommended. Sound strange, but I’ve not found the offical price of this exam. In the web site there is only this sentece “Register for the VCP4-DT exam before September 1, 2011 and take advantage of the $50 discount”. So I have to assume that the price that […]
