Like in the past VMworld 2014, the location of VMworld 2015 will be in the same place: again at San Francisco (for the US edition) and Barcelona (for the EU edition). US edition: will be in San Francisco during August 30 – September (with a partner day on August 30) EU edition: will be in Barcelona during October 13 – 15 (with a partner day on 12)

During the recent VMworld Europe, I’ve got the opportunity to talk with Gregg Holzrichter, Vice President of Marketing of Atlantis Computing about their virtualization products. I’ve meet them during the VMworld EU 2013 and also during the last Virtualization Field Day. Atlantis Computing, with the headquarter in California (Mountain View) and an office also in EMEA (London), was the winner of “Best of VMworld 2012″ and “Best of Citrix Synergy 2012″ awards, addresses the challenges of storage-intensive virtualized and cloud applications: performance, cost and the ability to scale-out on demand. Their solutions are targeted for the VDI and […]

During the recent VMworld Europe, I’ve got the opportunity to talk with Steven Willson (VP Technology Services EMEA at Violin Memory) and Eric Herzog (Chief Marketing Officer and SVP of Alliances at Violin Memory) of Violin Memory about their storage products and their users cases in virtualization projects. I’ve already met them one year ago, during the past edition of VMworld Europe and this was the opportunity to know the news about those months. As I already written in the previous report, their storage are completely flash based, but the big difference from other similar approaches (like Nimbus Data and Pure Storage) is […]

During the recent VMworld Europe, I’ve got the opportunity to see Login VSI product, especially a new component to it’s benchmark tool for VDI and remote desktop/applications environment: Graphics Framework. The Login VSI Graphics Framework, available for Login VSI Pro users, makes it easy to test any professional graphics application (such as AutoCAD, Siemens NX and Photoshop) in virtualized desktop environments. Floris van der Ploeg (R&D guru) wrote an interersting blog post about this new Login VSI component.

Login VSI is a well know company in the VDI and End User Computing are, due to its Login VSI product: the flagship product (sold for the past 2 years) for sizing, scaling, capacity planning, change impact on performance. But also a standard for benchmark those kind of environments. I’ve already wrote about the new 4.1 release. But is not the only product, there are also: Login VUM (new product out in limited beta): for continuous proactive monitoring of end user experience in production environments. Login Automation Machine (currently part of Login Consultants as Automation […]

The VMworld EU 2014 has finished today Thu 16 October. As usually most of the activities close in the early afternoon (or also in the morning), making the last day the weakest one. At least certifications and some activities are still running for the rest of the day. And this year, there will be also the Tech Field Day Extra in the afternoon. In the next post I will provide a report of all my meetings and the Tech Field Day sessions!

On Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 at 9 a.m. CEST, the event will kick off with a keynote presentation featuring VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger. Gelsinger will discuss strategies for competing and winning in today’s dynamic business environment — as old, rigid structures melt away and increasingly liquid businesses use technology in new and innovative ways to gain competitive advantage. The keynote presentation will include key announcements, discussions and demonstrations of VMware’s software-defined approach and the combined power of its solution portfolio.

Officially the VMworld EU 2014 starts tomorrow (Oct, 14th), but today there is the VMware partner day, so most people are alredy at Barcelona and some activities, like hands-on lab or #vBrownbag TechTalk sessions are running. Are announced over 8,000 attendees, more than 125 sponsors and more than 300 breakout sessions. So let’s see how goes this event and don’t miss my VMworld 2014 EU tips.

The VMworld US edition is finished some weeks ago and there are just four weeks until the European edition of VMworld 2014! Although those two edition are too close there are still lot of difference in the contents and in the events themselves. The European edition remain one of biggest event in EMEA and a must, especially if you have lost (like me) the US edition. I’ve explain why attend at this event (reason remain just the same from previous year) now I also collect some (I hope useful) information (like done in the previous […]

For people, like me, that are missing this VMworld US, there is a great recap about the VMware related news and announces. Some new products has been announced, some products have change their name, some new released have been reveal. Let’s see most of them.
