Using Veeam Backup & Replication, sometimes you may find a strange failure error in your backup jobs:

The job will fail and the related VM is not saved.

But what does it means and how you can fix this issue?

Usually the cause is a missing file or incomplete backup chain in your backup and the VM just need a new active full backup.

With Veeam version 12 and the new per VM backup chain you can fix it easily by right click on the failed VM and starting a full backup (don’t try “retry” or the issue will reappear).
