PernixData FVP installation

Reading Time: 5 minutes PernixData FVP is a Flash Hypervisor software aggregates server flash across a virtualized data center, creating a scale-out data tier for accelerating reads and writes to primary storage in a simple and powerful way. Was one of first (probably the first) to implement a fault-tolerant write back acceleration. As part of the PernixPro program, I’ve got the opportunity to test various version of this product that actually support all version of ESXi 5.x (so is not limited to the 5.5 version) and works both with the vSphere Client and also with the vSphere Web Client.

Veeam Explorer for SAN adds NetApp snapshot support

Reading Time: < 1 minute The rumors about a new storage supported for Veeam Explorer for SAN were true and Veeam has recently announce the support (with the next version) of NetApp snapshot. Actually the supported storage (for the storage snapshot integration feature) are only HP: first was StoreVirtual (when was still called LeftHand) and later the StoreServ (3PAR) products. This announce is the second related the new features of the upcoming Veeam Backup & Replication v8 release (the first was indirectly the beta of Veeam Explorer for AD).

VMware VSAN: revolution, evolution or reinventing the wheel?

Reading Time: 4 minutes After the VMware NOW: Virtual SAN Special Online Event of past week (on Thursday, March 6, 2014), now VMware announce the GA Virtual SAN 5.5, a Software-Defined Storage with the declared objective to bring the efficient operational model of virtualization to the storage world. This product was widely announced in previous VMworld and arrived after a long beta program with and unprecedented customer interest and validation: 12,000+ Virtual SAN Beta Participants represent an interesting number (also considering some prizes and contents during the beta period).

Infinio Accelerator 1.0
