Reading Time: 3 minutesDuring the first day of the VMworld US, VMware has updated (and changed) its certifications page by adding more certifications (some available soon) and by defining two new certification paths. For the new certifications there isn’t too much to say, some where expected from several months (like the VCAP-DT), other are quite new and related with the new certifications paths (see Certification Roadmap) that will be basically four: Datacenter Virtualization (DV) that already exist and it’s completed Cloud End Using Computing (previous know at DT path) Cloud Application Platform Except the last path that is […]

Reading Time: < 1 minuteI’ve already written a post about the reintroduction of the MCSA and MCSE certifications. Now that some of them are live (MCSA on Windows Server 2008 was the first, now also the MCSE on Private Cloud is available) the new certification schema has become more clear. Seems that there on new products only this model will be adopted (so probably no new version of MCTS or MCITP certification) and those MCSE certifications are already be announced: MCSE Private Cloud: already available… Is the new version of the MCITP on virtualization and management. MCSE Server Infrastructure: […]

Reading Time: 5 minutesFrom an initiative of Gregg Robertson, this is a short interview. The original page is at: VCDX Spotlight- Andrea Mauro How did you get into using VMware? As most people I’ve started of course with VMware Workstation and honestly not with the ESX 1.0 (I remember that was not possible, at least in my Country) to have an evaluation or trial version. My first virtualization project (for academic purposes) was building a virtual honeynet with Linux UML (it was the end of 2001). My first virtualization project based for a production system virtualization solution was […]

Reading Time: < 1 minuteVMware is working a new certification specific for the “cloud”: VMware Certified Professional 5 – Infrastructure as a Service (VCP5-IaaS). Some individuals are about to be invited to paticipate in the beta phase. The rumor goes that the public exam should be live late July. The exam will probably measure the skills and abilities installing, configuring and administering a vCloud environment. Sign up here to know as soon as it’s publicly available. Reading Time: 3 minutesLast week I’ve taken the official VCAP5-DCD, to remediate the failure of the VCAP5-DCD beta and  try to gain this certification. The exam is really huge: The VDCD510 exam contains 100 questions (in the beta 131). The total time for this exam is 225 minutes (same of the beta). Candidates who take the VDCD510 exam in a country where English is not a primary language will have an additional 30 minutes added to the exam time. This time extension is automatic, no additional action is required from the candidate. There were jsut a few questions with a […]

Reading Time: < 1 minuteThe official VCAP5-DCD exam has been released some days ago and there is the relative web page with several information about it and, of course, the blueprint. And also there are other site with useful study guides and notes: VCAP brownbags Gregg Robertson’s VCAP5-DCA & DCD resource page Scott Vessey’s VCAP5-DCD resource page (actually contains only generic information) Ray Heffer’s VMware VCAP5-DCD Study Guide & Notes page Steve Dunne’s VCAP-DCD 5 – Study Pack VCAP-DCD | Objective 1.1 | Gather and analyse business requirements

Reading Time: < 1 minuteFinally, after the beta period and a long waiting (first time that beta results were out before the exam goes live), the VCAP5-DCD exam is now available. All information are on the official web page. It also confirmed the rumors that, for a shot period, all VCAP4-DCD could upgrade to v5 without the need of VCP5… Nice but unuseful… I think that most has alreay upgrade before the 29th of Feb… So an exam discount (IMHO) was a better option. As usually, for VCAP exam, you need to require a VCAP5-DCD Authorization, that is still […]
