For me will be a good way to meet again lots of friends again, visit some booths to learn more from sponsors, pass some time in the community area and try to see some sessions. This year, I don’t want to write a complete pre-conference guide, old posts like VMworld 2015 EU or also VMworld 2014 EU tips tips are still valid.

In it he provide a complete step-by-step instructions, with screenshots, about how to build a fully ready and complete NetApp simulator lab from scratch, using NetApp’s latest operating system ONTAP 9. Almost all NetApp features can be practised and tested using the lab. You can use it as a study tool or for testing features before deploying them in your production environment. The book is available on this site.

The ProfessionalVMware #vBrownBag is a series of online webinars held using GotoMeeting and covering various Virtualization & VMware Certification topics. Add deduplication and compression to an Linux server

Reading Time: 2 minutesAlthough Linux is used in several storage solutions, the native filesystems lack of modern features like deduplication or compression (compression extented attribute is present from some decade, but it’s implementions is still limited or missing). Most storage solutions use other filesystem (like ZFS), or also other operating systems: FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenSolaris branches, or also Windows Server (like DataCore). Now Permabit Technology Corporation announced the availability of its Albireo Virtual Data Optimizer (VDO) for Canonical’s Ubuntu Server.

VMware vExpert VSAN 2016

Reading Time: < 1 minuteOn the second half of 2016, VMware has started new vExpert (sub)programs on different technologies. One was the vExpert VSAN. And finally the list of 2016 vExperts who received the VSAN award has been published. The program is build upon the vExpert program. To apply you must be a current vExpert as well as evangelizing VMware Virtual SAN. There will be an application once per year for each of the sub-programs. Applications for 2017 will open around February of 2017.
