Reading Time: 3 minutesHas written in a previous post, Veeam has announced their first big multi-day event: VeeamOn 2014. An important milestone for a company that was founded in 2006 and now one of biggest in its field (and still a good example on how the virtualization ecosystem can grow using also the ecosystem itself). VeeamON will be a big event (and potentially one of the “biggest”) not only about Veeam and their products, but on the entire availability and data protection area. The agenda is not yet available, but the contents are quite interesting and, of course, […]

Reading Time: 3 minutesAs happened in the past year (with the Veeam Backup & Replication 7 announces), Veeam is periodically announce new features and concepts about the new 8.0 suite, that will be called Veeam Availability Suite. One of the recent announce is about the end-to-end encryption included in Veeam Backup & Replication v8. Encryption was not so new in Veeam products, considering that was introducted in the Veeam Backup & Replication Cloud Edition, but was only on data stored on the cloud provider.

Reading Time: 3 minutesVeeam Software announced (on 11 June) a new part of the new Veeam Availability Suite v8, called Veeam Cloud Connect. The new functionality is designed for Veeam Cloud Providers (VCPs), both current VCPs and new service providers, and gives an easy way to host backups for Veeam’s customers. Veeam customers get a fully integrated, secure and efficient means to move backups to an offsite backup repository managed by the service provider of their choice, but without the upfront capital investment of an offsite infrastructure.

Reading Time: 2 minutesAs written, Veeam Availability Suite v8 will be the new suite that will replaces Veeam Backup Management Suite (remaining at same price, same editions, of course with new features of v8). The launch is declared in Q3 of 2014, but there are several announces, week by week, about new features. On the storage side, there was a announce of a new Snapshot Storage integration (for Veeam Explorer), this time with NetApp. But there is a new announce about a new storage integration: this time not at source level (or proxy level), but at target level. EMC […]

Reading Time: < 1 minuteVeeam Software has announced the new Veeam Availability Suite (available Q3, 2014), a solution that ensures all applications and data are accessible whenever and wherever they are needed. “The introduction of the Veeam Availability Suite, which integrates Veeam’s backup and recovery software with its monitoring and reporting software, is part of a move by Veeam to play a bigger role in the modern data center”, said CEO Ratmir Timashev.

Reading Time: 9 minutesVeeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) is a technical certification introduced by Veeam to documented proof that an engineer possesses the necessary level of expertise to correctly architect, implement and configure Veeam Software Solutions. Actually, in order to gain this certification, you basically need to attend a course and pass the related exam. I’ve already described the entire process (and the benefit) for the VMCE Certification and also some comments about the VMCE Course. Finally I’ve found a timeslot time for study and some days ago I’ve passed the exam (I’ve still waiting my VMCE number, but […]

Reading Time: 2 minutesGranular restore of application is usually a complex and long task that may require also good knowledge of the application itself. This because most backup programs just restore the application files and then using specific application procedures you can restore specific objects from those recovered files. As written in previous posts, Veeam Backup & Replication has different ways to handle object restores: using Application Item Recovery (AIR) or, for some applications, using a specific Veeam Explorer components. For SQL Server actually there is only the U-AIR option, that is really powerful but require at least […]
