Reading Time: 2 minutesThe new releases of Windows OS products (both Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2) are actually in a RTM state for OEM and will be public available on October (probably the 17th or the 18th). Actually, in the last days, Microsoft has announced that the RTM is also available on MSDN and Technet. Or you can simple ask to download the evaluation product (but in this case it’s just a beta version).

Reading Time: 2 minutesThe Microsoft Certified Solutions Master (MCSM) is the new name of the MCM program and actually include different paths (MCSM: Data Platform, MCSM: SharePoint, MCSM: Communication, MCSM: Messaging , MCSM: Active Directory). This certification is almost similar at the VCDX level from VMware, but it’s not the top one in the Microsoft path, where a Microsoft Certified Architect (MCA) level also exist. Now, in the last days, there are some strange rumors about those certifications: seems that Microsoft communicated on Friday evening to existing and candidate MCM/MCSM/MCA community (exams will be retired on October 1, […]

Reading Time: 10 minutesAlthough there are some comparison between Hyper-V 2012 R2 (the version 4 of this product) and the existing vSphere 5.1 suite (like this one: Comparing WS2012 R2 Hyper-V and vSphere 5.1), I prefer keep consistency in the available product versions and compare the actual releases (and replace the precedent and old comparison between Hyper-V 2012 and vSphere 5.0). The 3rd release of Microsoft Hyper-V and the VMware ESXi (and vSphere suite) 5.1 has similar technical features (and both of them are in the top-right Gartner quadrant), and probably for the first time, VMware has added […]

Reading Time: 4 minutesVirtualization products comparisons are almost common, but usually are too much (single) vendor oriented and each try to bring better conclusion on its products. So it’s difficult find something that it’s really independent. Also customer experiences could be polarized by their knowledge and the experience itself, or (and this could be worst) by a better design or architecture choice. I’ve write something one year ago (see this post), but of course products change so things also change. So part is still valid and part must be updated.

Reading Time: 3 minutesThe MCSE “v2” (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) certifications are an advanced (or the reflect the meaning of the name, the expert) level in Microsoft certifications. Introduced more than one year ago with the MCSA level, where completed with the MTA certifications that are the entry level, especially for people that don’t know already the Microsoft technologies. I’ve reach the MCSE: Private Cloud certification on September 2012, but using some “short” path (time limited), so it wasn’t really a complete example of what are new MCSE certifications.

Reading Time: 2 minutesVMware vSphere 5.x According with KB 2006859 (Windows 8 / Windows Server 2012 Operating System does not boot or install on ESXi or ESX) Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 VMs are fully supported for ESXi 5.1, ESXi 5.1 U1, ESXi 5.0 U1 and ESXi 5.0 U2. Note: For Windows Server 2012, you must install the patch ESXi500-201209001(Patch 04) on ESXi 5.0 U1. For more information, see VMware ESXi 5.0, Patch Release ESXi500-201209001 (2032584).

Reading Time: 2 minutesWe have already disccus about the re-introduction of the MCSA and MCSE certification levels and also of the new MTA level (see also my exam experience). Recently also the MCM certification level has been slightly modified (with a new name MCSM). Microsoft certification site could help to find the right IT certification for your needs and your competency.
