Reading Time: 4 minutes Uila Application-aware Infrastructure Performance Management is an end-to-end solution available as a public cloud service or also as an on-prem solution. The overall architecture is similar to other SaaS monitor and anlysis solution  but with some interesting difference: first the possibility to have and on-prem infrastructure, second the ability to monitor not only infrastructure related countes (like from vCenter) but also applications related counters, third the UI and its capabilities.

Reading Time: 2 minutes Veeam has announced the Veeam Vanguard 2017 list with several renewal and some changes. The Vanguard program represents Veeam brand to the highest level in many of the different technology communities. It’s a program around the community of Veeam experts that truly get our message, understand our products and are our closest peers in IT. For several aspects, like the VMware vExpert or Microsoft MVP program, where the communities contribution is one of the main aspect. In this first round there where 31 individuals. Reading Time: 2 minutes Arcserve is an historical company in data protection: first emerged in 1990 as Cheyenne Software, and then quickly flourished as a backup software provider with their flagship ARCserve BACKUP product. They have announced the new release of Unified Data Protection (UDP) solution that accelerated cloud and on-premise capabilities, and support for AWS Cloud, Nimble Storage, HPE 3PAR and Office 365.

Reading Time: 2 minutes Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.4 (announced few weeks ago) helps application development and IT operations teams create and deploy apps with the speed and consistency that business demands. It includes Docker, Kubernetes 1.4, Project Atomic, OpenShift Origin, and of course Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This new release provides significant enhancements to OpenShift in order to lower the barrier of adoption of containers in the enterprise with simplified storage provisioning, enhanced multi-tenant capabilities and new reference architectures in hybrid cloud environments.

Reading Time: 4 minutes In the previous post, I’ve described how using the vCenter plugin to deploy the couple of StorMagic VSA. It’s just one way and maybe not the fastest way (automation in this case can be the best). But it’s one of the simplest way. After this step you have the VSA ready with they storage resources and you have to build a shared datastore by making a synchronous of two local resources. Easy to say, lot of step di build this (also because you have to mount the datastore in the hosts).

Reading Time: 5 minutes StorMagic SvSAN is an interesting hyperconverged solution that converts internal disk, flash and memory of two or more servers into a robust, shared-storage appliance. SvSAN delivers highly-available converged compute and storage while requiring the fewest components; 2 light-weight servers and no physical SAN. For this reason it’s a valuable product for ROBO (Remote Office  / Branch Office) scenario where a 2 nodes infrastructure could be enough. But one interesting aspect is related to manageability and simplicity: you can deploy and manage your infrastructure directly from the vCenter Web Client (until vSphere version 6.0 you can […]

Reading Time: 2 minutes There is a big new in data protection and business continuity market: StorageCraft Technology Corporation and Exablox Corporation joined forces to completely focus on helping businesses analyse, protect, and store their data. The new entity is the first company to bring together a new approach that recognizes the disappearing lines between primary and secondary storage as well as between data availability and data protection. A new big player will appear and will be interesting see how it will be positioned compared to other products and considering existing OEM and Technological partnership from both companies.
