Reading Time: 4 minutesDuring the last VMworld EU, on Tuesday, I met David Blackman, General Manager EMEA in Acronis and we have some talk about the company and their products. Acronis was founded in 2002 and is headquarter is in Woburn, Massachusetts, USA, with 18 offices worldwide (included Italy). The executive management team has two recent news: the President & CEO is Alex Pinchev (joined on Jan, 2012 from RedHat) and the  Senior Vice President of Strategy & Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is Scott Crenshaw (joined on Sep, 2012, still from Red Hat). Reading Time: < 1 minuteIf Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager is installed on the same server as Veeam Backup and Replication, and Veeam Backup and Replication is upgraded to version 6.1 without upgrading Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager, you will get an error about the Veeam Backup Catalog Data service. Upon rebooting, the server will go into an infinite reboot loop. The solution is well described in the KB 1645: Uninstall Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager and Veeam Backup Catalog service. Run Veeam_B&R_Setup_x64 to upgrade Veeam Backup and Replication to version 6.1. Allow machine to restart. Run Veeam_B&R_EnterpriseManager_Setup_x64 to upgrade Veeam Backup […]

It’s the new version of Veeam Backup & Replication 6.1 that add several enhancements from the v6.0: VeeamZIP: a new capability for performing ad-hoc backups. In many ways, it functions like a zip utility for VMs. For this reason, it’s called VeeamZIP™. New console with a “Ribbon Design”: while wizards and dialogs (which account for 90% of the user interface) haven’t changed, it’s now easier to get to […]

Reading Time: 2 minutesSome days ago I found a strange issue with vSphere 5 where some VMs was not movable with Storage vMotion with a strange error: The method is disabled by ‘SYMC-INCR dd-mm-yyyy hh:mm’. From the name SYMC my first though went on Symantec Backup Exec (the 2010 R3 version) and may on some corrupted snapshots: but the VM file where good, and there was nothing to be consolidate. I’ve looked in the VMware KB and I found the KB 2008957 (Storage vMotion fails with the error: The method is disabled by ‘SYMC-INCR dd-mm-yyyy hh:mm’) with the […]
