Reading Time: 2 minutes At VMware’s Partner Exchange event at Las Vegas, Dell and VMware announced a strategic partnership to offer an end-to-end VDI solution for the mid-market. More interesting is that the announce was also during a PEX session (EUC1322: Enabling Cloud Desktops DaaS – Partner Opportunities and Technology) giving several interesting technical detail both for the DaaS related aspects (and also the limitation with the Windows license), but also in the Dell implementation.

Reading Time: 3 minutes During the recent VMware Partner Exchange 2013 I’ve got the opportunity to meet and discuss with Scott Bennett, Sales Director Northern-and Southern Europe at Liquidware Labs. I’ve already posted about the latest products release and how their solutions could be interesting for a VDI enviroment. However, it was interesting to talk directly with their vision, proposition, position, but also of their point of view regarding the evolution of virtualization ecosystem in relation to the evolution of VMware and its products (which in some cases go to limit ecosystem market).

Reading Time: 3 minutes As written in a previous post there are several reasons to attend (at least one time) to a VMware Partner Exchange because is slightly different from a VMworld. Now that I’ve attend at the 2013 edition and also at both VMworld 2012, I can give some impressions and comments at the event.

Reading Time: 4 minutes I’ve already write a post about Nimbus Data (during my last VMworld US I met the team and had a technical product overview) and describe their storage solution. The core of the solution is the HALO operating system, and now the new release HALO 2013 provides new features at management layer: powerful analytics to gauge the performance and efficiency of Nimbus Data flash memory arrays a new REST-based API gives administrators full access to all Nimbus features and statistics, facilitating storage management in large multi-vendor data centers a new mobile access with HALO Mobile that […]

Reading Time: 6 minutes PHD Virtual has released the new PHD Virtual Backup 6.2 with a cloud feature called Cloud Hook that permit to save the backup also on some public cloud provider (like Amazon S3, Rackspace CloudFiles, Google Cloud Storage, or any local provider that supports OpenStack/Swift cloud storage). The product is still available both for VMware vSphere and also for Citrix XenServer (and probably is the main professional backup solution for this hypervisor). I’ve tested the product beta for VMware (on vSphere 5.1) to verify the cloud features.

Reading Time: < 1 minute Cloud Cred is a “game” build by VMware (here the description page) to build your cloud expertise, broadening your professional network and earning rewards and certifications based on your Cloud Cred score. The idea was introduced at VMworld 2012, during the vExpert briefing, and now is running live on the cloudcredibility.com web site.

Reading Time: < 1 minute In March you could be the big winner of a free full pass to TechEd 2013 either North America or Europe TechEd (depending on winner’s location). Just register to the Veeam content at this link! The winner will be selected on March, 18.

Reading Time: < 1 minute Finally the results of the previous content are out on vSphere-land web site. My guess about the first of each category has been matched (where my first options).

Reading Time: 3 minutes This was another exam where I’ve lose the opportunity to try during the beta due to the lack of available time. But during the last VMworld EU I’ve plan to take it, considering that I require few time (for the exam) e was also with a good discount! The blueprint version 2.21 is still based on vCloud 1.5 (funny considering that the VCP5-Cloud exam is based on vCloud 5.1), so just remember to be prepared on the previous product (there is also a free self-paced course on vCloud Director 1.5)! When I took the exam […]
