VMware Horizon View 5.2 HTML5 Access is a new way to access your virtual desktop using the Blast protocol.

Actually is not integrated in the standard Horizon View package, but you need to download the required packages from the Horizon View Feature Pack section:

View-5.2-FeaturePack

In this pack is included also the Unity Touch feature to integrate more function and fast programs/documents access for mobile devices (for more info see also: VMware Horizon View Unity Touch is awesome).

For system requirements and installation instructions, see Using VMware Horizon View HTML Access and VMware Horizon View Feature Pack Installation and Administration.

Note that you have both a “server part” that must be installed on the Connection Servers and a “desktop part” that must be added in the virtual desktops (or on the golden image).

Horizon-View-HTML5

For the Connection server, download the HTML Access installer file from the VMware product page. The installer is named VMware-Horizon-View-HTML-Access_X64-build_number.exe

Install the file on the Connection server (not required on the secure server) and point to the view portal. It will change with a new look:

View-Blast

The installation process is really simple and it require to only follow the wizard:

Horizon-View-HTML5-1Horizon-View-HTML5-2

Horizon-View-HTML5-3

Finally you have to open the ports on your Secure server’s firewall. By default they are closed, but are already pre-configured:

Firewall1

Firewall2 Firewall3
