Reading Time: < 1 minuteMicrosoft Virtual Academy (MVA) is an online portal for IT pros to learn about Microsoft’s cloud-based technologies. According to some sources, the Microsoft Virtual Academy was first put in place to provide IT professionals with training on Microsoft’s cloud based technologies. It does not replace the partner portal or other learning portal, but it gives a (huge) collections of links, tracks, documents, courses, videos and a scoring methods (but actually only used for giving points, not for some form of gamification).

VMware exams and related products version

Reading Time: 2 minutesAs discussed, all the VMware exams have a release version that depend only by the major number of the related products (or suite). And usually are all agnostic on the minor number. But the only way to be sure is check the related blueprint and verify the content (a simple and fast way could be check the document links). But there are also some specific notes depending by the certification path.

VMware Cloud certification path

Reading Time: 3 minutesThe Cloud path is one of the new certifications paths from VMware announced during the last VMworld US. I’m not sure that it will remain an independent (from the -DCV) path also in the future, considering that VMware now is pushing on the vCloud Suite rather than only the single vSphere or vCloud Director part. But this is just a my guess. Actually the Datacenter Virtualization (vSphere) and the Cloud (vCloud Director and related products) are two separated certifications paths.

VMware Certifications: new name and new exam

Reading Time: < 1 minuteRecently there were some changes in the VMware Certifications Portal: The “old” VCP certification, renamed some months ago in VCP-DV and been (again) renamed in VCP-DCV (so we have VCP4-DCV and VCP5-DCV certifications). Some changes are applied to VCDX certification (VCDX4-DCV and VCDX5-DCV). Other certifications related to datacenter virtualization path actually remain with the current name (VCAP-DCA, VCAP-DCD). A new VCAP exam has been added and is the VCAP5-DTD, the one design related for the EUC path. All certification related paths as been rebuild with a new graphics… not sure if is better than before. Reading Time: 2 minutesVMware Press is a publishing alliance between Pearson and VMware, and is the official publisher of VMware books and training materials that provide guidance for the critical topics facing today’s technology professionals and students. There are several interesting book already available, and lot that must be published on the next months. Of course is not the only VMware books related repository, considering that some “best sellers” like (for example):VMware vSphere 5 Clustering Technical Deepdive and Mastering VMware vSphere 5. Also for certifications there are several other study books (like this one for VCP).
