It’s a fully integrated, preconfigured, and pre-tested VMware hyper-converged infrastructure appliancebased on VMware’s vSphere and Virtual SAN, and EMC software. VxRail delivers an all-in-one IT infrastructure transformation by leveraging a known and proven building block for the Software Defined Data Center (SDDC). But more important is not only an EMC product: it cames from the VCE that is an alliance with EMC, VMware and Cisco. So it’s mainly an EMC and VMware new product.

CPS introduces a validated, ready-to-run, optimized solution that features Microsoft software stack of Windows Server 2012 R2, System Center 2012 R2, and Windows Azure Pack strategically coupled with Dell PowerEdge servers, Dell Storage and Dell Networking in an integrated, cost-effective appliance. Also CPS prove an Azure-consistent cloud experience, because has been architected for agility and resiliency based on the experience gained from Azure. CPS offers consistent public, private, and hybrid cloud experiences for maximum flexibility.

Reading Time: < 1 minuteVMware and EMC took an important step forward in their cloud strategies by announcing plans to combine a critical mass of managed services assets from EMC II, and public cloud services from VMware vCloud Air under the Virtustream brand. Virtustream was acquired by EMC earlier this year, and is the leader in hosting mission-critical applications, such as SAP, in the cloud.

Reading Time: 3 minutesDell EqualLogic Virtual Storage Manager (VSM) for VMware is a VMware vCenter plug-ins that allows administrators to manage their EqualLogic groups and coordinate data protection and recovery within their vSphere environment. The Dell VSM is a virtual appliance that is downloaded as part of the all-inclusive Dell EqualLogic software support and can be installed into an existing VMware vCenter environment. The management can be done both within the vSphere Client (for old versions) or the vSphere Web Client (basically VSM management it’s just a web oriented interface). Actually exist two main versions of this product:

Actually there are three main lines in the “traditional” storage world that include: MD3 series (based on NetApp technologies), PS series (based on EqualLogic) and SC series (based on Compellent). And new solutions for the hyper-converged world, including the XC series and VMware EVO:RAIL appliances (but also other partnership, like the one with Nexenta or RedHat).
