Historically Veeam Backup & Replication was licensed based on socket numbers (physical socket of the protected hypervisors)… but with the introduction of the physical agents and other new products there are other license models.

As you probably notice in the past (see what’s happened with Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 3 or Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 2), this new “patch level” brings a lot of new features, like a major release.
