Compared to the full TCP/IP stack, RDMA can be managed without involving either one’s operating system (OS) and this means saving host resources and speed-up the communication. RDMA permits high-throughput and low-latencynetworking, but more important is becoming a common feature on some network card, and also supported by different OSes and hypervisors.

Reading Time: 3 minutesThe new release VMware vSphere 6.7U1 has a lot of improvements, but one has not been emphasized too much: VMware vSphere 6.7 Update 1 finally supports Microsoft Active Directory 2016 schema and relative functional level! Lot of people forget that  vCenter Server, vCenter Single Sign-On and the VMware Platform Services Controller have their own interoperability matrix with Active Directory versions based on the Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) domain functional level, not only with the Windows Server operating system on which Active Directory is running.

Veeam Backup & Replication issue with vSphere 6.7 Update 1

Reading Time: 2 minutesSeams that the new VMware vSphere 6.7 Update 1 will break all the Veeam Backup & Replication backup jobs! As reported in the Veeam KB 2443, VMware 6.7 Update 1 is actually NOT supported by Veeam B&R and will be supported only with Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 4. More information are available on Veeam KB 2784 and this forum thread.

Reading Time: 2 minutesAfter some months from the announce, finally VMware vSphere 6.7 Update 1 is now generally available (GA) and you can now download all the bits. Of course, this also mean a new version of the VMware vSAN 6.7 Update 1. But more importantly it means also a fully featured vSphere Client with the new version of the HTML5 client in vSphere 6.7 Update 1! Possible issue using Veeam Instant VM Recovery and vSphere Storage vMotion

Reading Time: 3 minutesIn the last Veeam Community Forums Digest, there are some interesting notes about some possible issues with vSphere Storage vMotion, that usually is used to move backup your VMs in the original datastore during a Instant VM Recovery (IR). Seems that there is major bug in Storage VMotion functionality of vSphere 6.7 when you are using the optional IR feature that allows you to redirect virtual disk updates to the selected datastore.
