This book is part of Operationalize Your World (OYW), a workshop that Kenon Owens and Iwan ‘e1’ Rahabok created back in 2016 as a free book (Iwan is the same author of the VMware vSphere Metrics, 4th edition book also available for free).

The VCF Operations Transformation, 4th Edition book describes that what you architect is SDDC, but what you handover as a business result to your CIO is IaaS. The transformation from SDDC to IaaS requires IT Operations Transformation. We transform from complaint-based to SLA-based, which requires fundamental process changes from alert-driven to insight-driven.

Since the 1st tour edition, the IT Press Tour have met 310 companies with 540 different sessions! Some companies did multiple editions and adopted the IT Press Tour as a key marketing communication medium once a year.

Snapshot management in vSphere 8.0.3

VMware vSphere 8.0.3 introduces several new features and also a new snapshot management.

One of the issues of VM snapshots is that people forget to delete them: according to VMware snapshot management recommended practices you shoul NOT keep snapshots for more than 3 days (I suggest to don’t keep them for more than one day, because usually you have backups as other possible restore points).

And seems less attendees (5000 was an un-official number, that seems very low compared to other edition of this event when was still called VMworld).

HPE completes the acquisition of Morpheus Data

 Hewlett Packard Enterprise, on August 15, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Morpheus Data, a pioneer in software for hybrid cloud management and platform operations. The acquisition of Morpheus reflects HPE’s commitment to simplify IT complexity by expanding the hybrid operations capabilities available through HPE GreenLake cloud.

Unifying complete hybrid capabilities on a single platform like HPE GreenLake is critical as enterprises grapple with IT estates that are more heterogenous and complex to manage.

On August 30 the acquisition is completed!
