Evolution of the security landscape

The digital security landscape has changed faster in the last years and more in the last months with the COVID-19 pandemic.

People are working more and more from home with smart working, but not all companies are prepared to secure those access and their digital workspace.

The consequence is that there are more attack and threads the are focused on people instead of corporate services or infrastructures.

But also, the rising of the cloud services model makes the attack easier and more effective… You can buy them as a service… you can buy compromised data when you need it… and this in the parallel world of the dark web.

OpenIO was a startup founded 26 June 2015 by a team of 6 co-founders (Guillaume Delaporte, Jean-François Smigielski, Julien Kasarherou, Laurent Denel, Marie Ponseel, Romain Acciari), experts in mail and data infrastructures. The headquarter was located in Lille, France, and there was also an OpenIO office in San Francisco.

But on 24 July 2020, OVHcloud acquired OpenIO for an undisclosed amount.

VMware announced the deprecation of vFlash Read Cache (vFRC) in the release notes of vSphere 6.7 Update 2. vFRC continues to be supported for vSphere 6.0/6.5/6.7.

NVMe over Fabrics (NVMe-oF) is a perfect alternative to the tradition protocols (iSCSI, FC, iSER, SMB3, and NFS) used to access external enterprise storage.

These protocols are good for SAS drives, but they are proven to be inefficient for NVMe flash devices because they are using legacy commands sets designed for generic drives. The new NVMe-oF use the same NVMe commands designed only for fast flash drivers.

Planned for the 23-25 June at Las Vegas, HPE Discover 2020 has become a free on-line event and renamed in HPE Discover Virtual Experience, scheduled in the same dates.
