But basically it’s an abstraction useful to created different contexts. Virtualization could be used as an abstraction level of a cloud computing solutions, but virtualization does not imply cloud. Was released some months ago (after the common beta period) and is the second type “admin role based” exam (after the VCAP-DCA one). Considering how is recent and new there are only few info about it: some exam experiences (mostly in the beta period), the confirmation that is based on vCloud Director 5.1 and of course the official page and documentation (including the blueprint). Installing vCloud Director in a lab

Reading Time: 5 minutesBuild a vCloud lab is interesting to increase your skill and knowledge, make some test and of course preparing for the VCAP-CIA exam. If you build on a ESXi nested environment you will not have too much problem (except with old hardware that may not support complete ESXi nesting with vSphere 5.1). With a VMware Workstation environment (of course with enough memory and resources) could be more fun and portable. But could be more difficult if you plan to use vCloud Director virtual appliance.

VMware Cloud certification path

Reading Time: 3 minutesThe Cloud path is one of the new certifications paths from VMware announced during the last VMworld US. I’m not sure that it will remain an independent (from the -DCV) path also in the future, considering that VMware now is pushing on the vCloud Suite rather than only the single vSphere or vCloud Director part. But this is just a my guess. Actually the Datacenter Virtualization (vSphere) and the Cloud (vCloud Director and related products) are two separated certifications paths.

My experience with VCP5-IaaS exam

Reading Time: 3 minutesThis was another exam where I’ve lose the opportunity to try during the beta due to the lack of available time. But during the last VMworld EU I’ve plan to take it, considering that I require few time (for the exam) e was also with a good discount! The blueprint version 2.21 is still based on vCloud 1.5 (funny considering that the VCP5-Cloud exam is based on vCloud 5.1), so just remember to be prepared on the previous product (there is also a free self-paced course on vCloud Director 1.5)!
