Tintri, a well know storage vendor focused on VM-aware storage (VAS) for virtualisation and cloud environments, announced the release of the Tintri VMstore T5040, a new entry-level all-flash storage array. The T5040 joins the existing VMstore T5000 All-Flash series and T800 Hybrid-Flash series to further expand customers’ choice of storage platforms that share a common operating system and real-time analytics.
Also announce the new Tintri OS 4.1 and a preview of Tintri Analytics with VM and application level predictive analytics capabilities.
With Tintri OS 4.1, Tintri adds new capabilities which include:
- Support for Citrix XenServer, which joins a long list of supported hypervisors including VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation, and OpenStack. Tintri VMstore istheonly VM-aware storageplatformthatsupportsconcurrent This unique capability allows IT and cloud service providers to run multiple hypervisor workloads on the same datastore, eliminating the need to dedicate storage to different hypervisor workloads.
- Support for VMware vSphere Virtual Volumes (VVols), enabling snapshots, clones, revert, visibility and statistics all at the VM level through VMware vCenter operations, and QoS from Tintri Global Center.
- New Hyper-V enhancements including SyncVM File-level restore, WMI Path Encryption, snapshot enhancements, and PowerShell cmdLets.
The Tintri VMstore T5000 series, which now includes the T5040 in addition to the previously announced T5060 and T5080, can store up to 5,000 VMs in a 2U form factor and up to 100,000 virtual machines, 1.4PB of data and 4 million IOPS in a single 40U rack. The series is designed for very large database farms and large persistent virtual desktops, which demand predictable, high throughput and sub-millisecond latency across their entire multi-terabyte capacity. The T800 Hybrid-Flash series, with 99 percent of storage IO from flash, will continue to serve as the platform of choice for most server virtualisation, VDI, private cloud and test and development use cases.
The Tintri VMstore T5040 and Tintri OS 4.1 will be generally available in December 2015. The Tintri VMstore T5040 is available immediately for ordering worldwide. Tintri OS 4.1 will be available as a free upgrade to all Tintri VMstore customers with a current support contract.
