During last VMware Explore, brand new VCP certifications have recently been introduced, focusing on the product portfolio. Two are releated to VCF, one is for admins and the other is for architects.
VMware VCP – VCF Administrator certification validates the skills required to deploy, manage, and support private cloud environments built on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). This certification is designed for IT professionals expanding from traditional infrastructure roles to cloud administration. Candidates for this certification includes professionals responsible for implementing and maintaining VCF infrastructure, ensuring it meets organizational service level objectives for availability, performance, and security. By achieving this certification, professionals demonstrate their ability to effectively operate VCF environments.
You will get this certification by passing the Exam 2V0-11.24 (VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2 Administrator) exam.
Exam structure is quite the same of other VCP exams:
- Language: English
- Duration: 135 Minutes
- Number of Questions: 70
- Passing Score: 300
- Format: Multiple -choice, Multiple-Choice-Multiple-Selection, Matching, Sequencing
VMware exams are scaled on a range from 100-500, with the determined raw cut score scaled to a value of 300. Your exam may contain unscored questions in addition to the scored questions, this is a standard testing practice. You will not know which questions are unscored, your exam results will reflect your performance on the scored questions only.
Exam is fair, buts ome questions are very trivial and totally not related to VCF, basic questions on Aria or vSphere or vSAN.
Some people say that the time is enough and some of them completed the exam in about 50 minutes, giving plenty of time to review my answers with less pressure. But I think this will apply only to native english people… About two minutes per question is just enough, also considering that some questions have a very long introductions (sometimes totally useless) and not all the questions are written in a good (or at least easy) english language!
What about the requirements? A big news in VMware certifications of some months age was that the course is no more mandatory (for who takes the VCP for the first time). But I think that is necessary… some questions seems just extracted some some page of the course.
Gain experience working with the VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2 solution and follow the VMware Cloud Foundation: Deploy, Manage, Configure course. I think it helps because some odd questions seems just to put exactly the same sentenses as explained in a course or in a official guide (but not available for free). I think was bettere use only the official documentation, and don’t use specific sentenses of the training course, as the “best anwsers”.
Too much questions are releated to put in the right order a flow… I found only two questions which asked you to put a task in the correct order step. But other people commented that there where so many on the exam I was really surprised given it’s a bit of an unusual format. And to be honest, the really order may depend! For example, for trobleshooting this really depends… your team has access to other infrastructure compoments, like physical switches? If not this can be one of the last step, if yes can be one of first step.
What really I don’t undestand is why the architect exams is still a VCP certification… wasn’t better build a VCP-VCF plus two VCAP-VCF focused on admin and desing?
