Reading Time: 3 minutesI’m very proud and honored to be invited at the 13rd edition of Tech Field Day (#TFD13) that will be in Austin the first week of February (February 1–3, 2017). After some Virtualization Field Day, one Data Field Day and some Tech Field Day Extra, I’m back for the first time in Austin and for the first time at a Tech Field Day (TFD) event format. The TFD event format replaced the Virtualization Field Day (VFD) event format more than one year ago (maybe because the buzzword virtualization is no more attractive). But to be […]

Reading Time: 4 minutesThe first European edition of Nutanix .NEXT Conference is over… So which news are coming from this event? First that there are enough numbers to make good European conferences, not only in the US… Several vendors already know it (see VMware with VMworld, but also NetApp and HP, to make some examples), but others does not bet on this region (see Citrix or Microsoft). There where a huge number of attendees, more than the expect number from the Nutanix. That’s a good sign for the future.

Reading Time: 2 minutesThis year there will be the first Nutanix .NEXT Conference in Europe (Vienna, 8-10 November), after the US edition in Spring 2016 (that was the second .NEXT US Conference). I’m very excited to attend at this event and I have a lot of expectation from it (see how was the first .NEXT Conference). I’ve been invited (as a NTC) and I’m really curious to learn more about Nutanix products and technologies, their vision, their alliances, …. and of course to see a lot of friends. The agenda seems very interesting and I hope that the […]

Reading Time: 5 minutesEach big vendor has some kind of “community award” for individuals who have significantly contributed to the community of the specific vendor’s users over the past year. Those kind of “technologies experts” could be book authors, bloggers (in most cases), leaders in some communities, tool builders, and other IT professionals who share their knowledge and passion with others. These people have gone above and beyond their day jobs to share their technical expertise and communicate the value of the specific vendor’s technologies to their colleagues and to the community.

Reading Time: 2 minutesDirty COW (CVE-2016-5195) is a privilege escalation vulnerability in the Linux Kernel. The bug has existed since around 2.6.22 (released in 2007) and was fixed on Oct 18, 2016. “A race condition was found in the way the Linux kernel’s memory subsystem handled the copy-on-write (COW) breakage of private read-only memory mappings. An unprivileged local user could use this flaw to gain write access to otherwise read-only memory mappings and thus increase their privileges on the system.” (RH)
