Reading Time: 8 minutesDuring the first Italian Tech Field Day Extra (at Cisco Live 2015 in Milan) the company that we met was, of course, Cisco. For an entire day we had different sessions with different Cisco’s people and talk about their different products, but also their different solutions and approaches. It was a full day (January 26th) from 9:00 to 17:00 with a bunch of interesting information (especially for me, where the networking part is usually the simplest part of my project, considering the medium size of Italian projects and environments).

Reading Time: 8 minutesVeeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) is a technical certification introduced by Veeam to documented proof that an engineer possesses the necessary level of expertise to correctly architect, implement and configure Veeam Software Solutions. If you start from scratch, in order to gain this certification, you basically need to attend a course and pass the related exam (I’ve already described the entire process for the VMCE Certification and also some comments about the VMCE 7 Course). But VMCE needs a recertification on each new major version of Veeam Backup & Replication and recertification rules are pretty simple: […]

All support and maintenance for vSphere Storage Appliance 5.5 will be unaffected and will continue to follow the Enterprise Infrastructure Support Policy. It’s an online portal to test drive its SDN products, including Big Cloud Fabric and Big Tap Monitoring Fabric… like a hands-on-lab it could be very useful also for understand how the products works and its features. While traditional networking products require access to physical hardware in order to use or test products, Big Switch Labs enables instant online testing of its products via this one-of-a-kind demo environment.

Reading Time: 5 minutesSo not only the new releases of some VMware products have been announced… but also new certifications, new levels and new paths. The VMware certification roadmap announced at VMworld 2012 was almost clear and related to the tecnologies used (and owned by VMware) at that time. But, except the moving of the developer certification to the Pivotal initiative, the paths have been the same until now (with the new entry of Network Virtualization) and the new VCA level.

Reading Time: 4 minutesDuring the VMware Online Launch Event, live from the VMware Partner Exchange event, Pat Gelsinger (VMware Chief Executive Officer) and Ben Fathi (VMware Chief Technology Officer) have announced the new release of their main product: VMware vSphere. The VMware vision announced (or confirmed if you prefer) during the Partner Exchange 2013 was all around three main points: Software Defined Datacenter, Hybrid Cloud and End User Computing. Most news (or the most important) are around the first point, considering that the several previous announces have already covered the Hybrid Cloud strategy and that the EUC area.
